Larry very much considers himself an artist's muse. He already has two beautiful portraits, thanks to and (see following pics). Now he's moving into his abstract phase and loves to hang out in the studio of , hoping to inspire her (at least that's what he thinks). Linda's studio is open for every day until Sunday. Come and see her beautiful paintings, Larry will be waiting to greet you. (And afterwards pop in and see me, my letterpress workshop will be open to visitors too.)

One of the joys of letterpress printed stationery is the impression that can be left by the type on the paper. It's clearest when printing 'blind' - without ink - on soft textured card or paper. You take it to another level when you use type designed with a 3-D effect, or shadow. Here's three of favourite from my type collection (from the top) Gill Shadow, Thorne Shaded and Rockwell Shadow. Printed on Gmund Cotton card for crisp impressions and soft pillowy bulges in between. You have to admit, they really stand out.

For anyone who feels just a little bit different from the norm, and let's face it, don't we all sometimes? This quote from Alice Hoffman's 'Practical Magic' (and the movie that was made from it) was originally made at a workshop. I loved both the quote and the print so much that kept the type set up and printed one for myself. It seemed to go down very well when I shared it on Insta so I've printed a few more and added them to my store.

I was commissioned to print this poster before Christmas as a gift for a cycling fanatic and huge fan of the extraordinary Jenny Graham. It's the title of Graham's book about her record-breaking cycle around the world, and as far as I am concerned, seems a pretty good mantra for life. Especially if, like me, you need coffee to even think about getting out of bed and starting the day. I printed a few versions while I worked with the customer on the design and I'll be taking them to the Stroud Wayzgoose next weekend. Four years ago I had a proposal at my studio. Dan and Tammy were the loveliest couple and it was an absolute joy to help Dan set this poster and to witness the amazed and happy response from Tammy when he lifted it up from the press to reveal four very special words. It was so good to hear from Dan this week with news of the family and this photo of the posters they printed that day. Thank you for one of my favourite workshops ever! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

One thing about being a printer is that you can't just pop to the shops and pick up a Valentine's Day card. This one's a bit different, but with one daughter in Australia, one heading to Dublin and one about to go backpacking, it feels appropriate. Not long Christmas I had a request for a custom print for a wedding gift. It was a December wedding so the timing was tight but I couldn't turn this one down and finally got it printed with just a day to go. The wedding had a Ska theme so these lyrics were perfect. Still haven't got round to putting the type away and I'm tempted to run off a few more prints before I do. What do you think?
