Following the theft on 2nd October, we have now completed an extensive review of our in-store CCTV footage and established that additional items were also stolen.

The footage shows a level of persistence and apparent confidence that suggests this was not an opportunistic incident. Despite extensive CCTV coverage throughout our premises, the individual continued to steal. We are seriously concerned that this may be part of a wider pattern of offending targeting hardworking, independent businesses and the people behind them.

Be under no illusion: we will not simply accept this and move on.

We are now reviewing further CCTV footage, including footage of vehicles entering and leaving our site, as well as cameras covering the surrounding lanes. We are determined to establish as much information as possible and will pass relevant evidence to the police.

You may think you will get away with it. You may think we will eventually give up. You may not even care about the impact your actions have on honest, hardworking people.

You are wrong to assume this will simply be forgotten.

We will continue to pursue every legitimate avenue available to us, preserve the evidence and raise awareness of what has happened. Where appropriate and lawful, we will share relevant information to help identify those responsible and prevent other businesses from becoming victims.

We stand up for our business, our staff and our community. We will not be intimidated, and we will not be silenced.

📢 PLEASE SHARE THIS POST FAR AND WIDE.

The more people who see this, the greater the chance that someone will recognise something relevant and help bring those responsible to account.

Thank you to everyone who supports hardworking businesses and helps us spread the word..

THEFT AT SIMS VINTAGE ANTIQUES CENTRE FRIDAY 2ND OCTOBER 2026

*** LETS MAKE THIS SCUMBAG FAMOUS - PLEASE SHARE THIS POST ***

We are extremely disappointed to report a theft from one of our dealers at Sims Vintage Antiques Centre.

This was not a case of someone simply walking in and making an impulsive decision. Our CCTV shows the individual clearly taking steps to avoid staff and other customers, and the footage indicates that the theft was deliberate and planned. The item taken was a replica r***e belonging to one of our dealers.

Thankfully, incidents like this are not a regular occurrence here — but once is one time too many.

Our dealers invest significant amounts of time, money and effort sourcing interesting and desirable items for our customers. They work hard to provide a genuine service to the public, and they have every right to expect their property to be respected.

Unfortunately, on this occasion, one individual decided that the rules that apply to everyone else did not apply to them.

Our premises and the wider site are extensively covered by CCTV, including ANPR cameras covering the car park. The relevant footage is currently being reviewed, and all appropriate evidence will be passed to the Police.

If you are the person responsible for this theft, there is still an opportunity to return the stolen item before the Police come knocking.

We take the security of our dealers, customers and their property seriously, and we will fully support the Police investigation.

**** SOLD ****

We’ve just had this Military Field Veterinary Box arrive into the centre, and the more you look at it, the more questions it raises.

On the top, someone has carefully written:

Lieut E (or is a F ?) Horton
54 Lode Lane
Solihull B’ham

So far, so British.

But then you look at the front…

It’s written in French Field Veterinary box

Open the box and there’s another surprise.

The paper label inside is in German again a field Veterinary Box.

🇬🇧 🇫🇷 🇩🇪

Three languages. One box.

And somewhere in the middle of all this is Lieutenant E. Horton of Solihull.

You can’t help but wonder where this box has been. Was it carried across Europe during the war? Was it captured, exchanged or repurposed? Did it belong to a British veterinary unit operating alongside Allied forces? And why the German paperwork inside?

There’s something fascinating about objects like this. They’re not just pieces of old military equipment — they’ve been somewhere. They’ve been handled, transported, used and, in this case, apparently passed through more than one country.

So what’s the story behind this one?

If anyone recognises the box, knows anything about Lieutenant E. Horton, or can shed some light on the French and German markings, we’d love to hear from you.

This one definitely deserves some digging.
