Thought of the day: seeing beyond the lines.

Give us a floor plan, and we can already see more than what’s there.

We look at those lines and, somehow, a home starts to take shape in our minds, not as it is today, but as it could become.

Then comes our clients’ wish list: all the things they need, want and dream of for their home and family.

And that’s where the fun begins, playing with the lines, trying possibilities, until everything starts to fall into place.

That’s the part of architecture we love: seeing what could be there before it exists.

And eventually, those lines become a home.

From bedrooms and a long corridor to the heart of the home.

These before-and-during images show the transformation of an old extension that was once divided into bedrooms and a long corridor, with its potential largely underused.

The aim was to rethink the space completely, bringing it together into one generous living area where the kitchen takes centre stage.

By opening up the internal layout and making the most of the existing windows and openings, natural light can now flow throughout the space, while strong visual and physical connections with the large and lovely garden bring the outdoors into everyday life.

What was once fragmented and underused has become a bright, open space designed around how the family lives today, a place to cook, gather, relax and connect with the garden.

The extension has been given a new purpose, and the space has been reborn from every point of view.

Sometimes, a little is all it takes to change a lot.

We’re delighted to share that planning permission has been approved for this contemporary wrap-around extension.

For this project, we looked beyond simply creating additional floor area. The internal layout was carefully reworked to make better use of the existing space, creating a more welcoming entrance and a more generous dining area, while improving the overall flow and functionality of the ground floor. A new utility room and WC were also incorporated to support the practical needs of everyday life.

The extension also creates a stronger connection with the garden, bringing more natural light into the home and creating a better relationship between the interior and exterior spaces.

Externally, grey timber cladding is paired with the existing brickwork, creating a contemporary addition that sits comfortably alongside the original house.

It’s always rewarding to see a design progress from an initial idea through to planning approval. We’re now looking forward to developing the project further and seeing the design come to life.

September has a "back to school" energy that never really goes away, even once you're not the one going back to school. A pull to get organised, tidy things up, start the projects you'd been putting off.

Same here, new sketches on the desk, site visits back on the calendar, and a few projects finally moving off the drawing board.

Every choice starts with the same questions: how does the space flow? Where does the light fall? How does it connect to what's outside?

Here, the kitchen opens straight into the living space, light reaches every corner instead of pooling in one, and the outside is never more than a few steps away.

A space where contemporary design meets everyday living.

For this project, we created a mood board to define the overall vision for a contemporary open-plan kitchen, dining and family space, centred around a rich navy kitchen, warm timber details, and a refined palette of soft greys and earthy terracotta accents.

The kitchen is designed to become the heart of the home, with clean lines, timeless materials, and an open layout that encourages connection between cooking, dining, and relaxing. Every element has been carefully selected, from lighting and furniture to artwork, textures, and greenery, to create a space that feels warm, balanced, and inviting.

The result is a design that combines functionality with timeless elegance, proving that practical family spaces can be both beautiful and inspiring.

We have a habit of sitting on the floor when we are building mood boards.

There's something about being at the same level as the materials, the travertine tile, the carpet sample, the lacquered white panels, that helps us see how they really relate to each other. Not on a Pinterest board. Not on a screen. In real life, in natural light, next to each other.

This is the part of the process clients rarely see. But it's where the vision becomes real.
