Garden Jewel No. 2 — Blush Wings 🦋

Finished.

I nearly lost her in all that silver earlier, but those tiny touches of pale blue and blush pink brought her back.

She feels delicate, a little jewel like, and exactly what I wanted this collection to be about: noticing the tiny things that are easy to miss.

I nearly lost this little butterfly completely 😂🦋

I got a bit carried away with the silver and suddenly she was disappearing into the background.

So I’ve started sneaking in tiny flashes of pale blue and blush pink to bring her back to life.

All on a 3 inch canvas

Garden Jewel No. 1 — Silver Trail

And the September challenge has officially started.

I’m painting one tiny Garden Jewel each day, just 3 inches, with shimmering silver and one pop of colour.

Today’s is Silver Trail, inspired by something I usually ignore completely: a snail trail.

That’s really what this project is about. Stepping outside every day, noticing something small, then turning that feeling into a painting.

The first Garden Jewel is underway… 🐌

Three tiny inches, shimmering silver and just one pop of blue colour.

This whole project is about slowing down enough to notice the little things we usually walk straight past.

And apparently, I’m starting with a snail.

When I go back to school, life gets busy very quickly.

And one of the first things I lose is time outside.

So this September I’m giving myself one small daily ritual: step into the garden, notice something, and make a tiny painting.

I’m calling them Garden Jewels.

Look for wonder in the smallest things.

I’ll be painting the first tomorrow on this silvery background!
