"The Life Cycle of the Strawberry" and of course we have a bobbin for that!
We have a couple actually and it's been a bumper year for sweet, juicy fruits here in the UK this summer🍓🍓
Our original Strawberries bobbin is in the second photo and the newer Fantastic Fruits Strawberries, part of the fruity set of 8 bobbins we designed for our 2024 catalogue is side by side in the 3rd photo for comparison.
Back in 2010 we also made a pretty Mother & Babe bobbin decorated with Wild Strawberries (illustrated on page 13 in the catalogue in the website archive) so you can tell that we really love the strawberry!

A gem! Here is a beautiful Rose Garden mat which was designed and made in the UK by one of our lovely customers, who prefers to remain anonymous. We first shared this a few years ago before it was lost in the Facebook hijack of 2025 so here it is for all our new followers to enjoy.
We're so lucky to see the gorgeous results of the bobbins' work in the hands of the lacemaker, a privilege and a total joy! Thank you🙏

The bobbins in this photo span many years of Ben and Tony's bobbin designs and include an early Fairy Tales bobbin called Rapunzel (you can just see her peeking out beneath the green spangle beads in the centre of the bobbins), Dizzy in Mauve (5th from the top left) and Monday's Child (is fair of face, nestling on her side in the centre).
The Blue Daisy Mother & Babe to the left of the Holly Berries is one of Tony's bobbins.
On the right of the photo are the Together Apart & Thank You Rainbow bobbins which are both from 2020.

It's the time of year here in the UK for lots and lots of lovely Lavender. We counted one bush outside the workshop with 50 bumble bees on it in the sunshine yesterday afternoon, it was smelling fantastic and sounding very industrious 🐝🐝

We've a made a variety of of bobbins featuring Lavender over the years, and the ones in this photo are, from left to right: a Lavender design we made for a recent Spotlight sale, Spray of Lavender, Lavender Bush (with Lavender stem inside shown in close-up), French Lavender, Lavender Rays and a second Spotlight Lavender bobbin.

All these bobbins are available to order if you fancy a bit of perpetual Lavender on your lace pillow 💜🪻💜

Win's Binche Shells and our Beach Huts bobbins 😎
It's full-on summer up here in the UK so these are just the ticket and if you missed these shells on our Instagram recently then here they are for you now, along with a bobbin design inspired by the beaches of North Norfolk in the east of UK.
Big thanks to Winnie in New Zealand for her photo of these Mika Toyoda shells. So beautifully made, we can almost hear the waves crashing🐚🏖️

We discovered that our rural Post Office here in the west of the UK was closed yesterday so the June International Bobbin Club orders will be leaving from here today instead. It's a 5 minute walk down the hill from the workshop so not far to revisit with the big bagful of bobbins😊
The UK orders were sent out on Friday & Monday and Mark our friendly Postmaster will be processing all the International packets in about an hour's time! ✈️🌏🌎🌍

What can we say! We have been so lucky over the years, getting to know all our fabulous customers from all over the world and sharing good times, tricky times, happy times as well as some sad times and sometimes we are extra-fortunate to be given something that quite honestly blows us away.
A few years ago a generous and talented customer designed and made this for us and we'd like to share it again on our new page so everyone that engages with us here gets the chance to appreciate it.
Preferring to remain anonymous, she says that "I really enjoyed designing and making the lace, which is Buckinghamshire Point Ground (usually known as Bucks lace)" which makes it even more special to us and we'd like to say "Thank you🥰" once more and we're sure that you will all enjoy it too! 🗺️

It might be early winter in New Zealand but the summery colours are hitting the pillow!
Thank you Winnie for sending us these photos of your latest spangling session, the bobbins all look fantastic. Eager to get going, we reckon😄
The bone bobbins here are a selection Winnie ordered from our 2025 Lace Suppliers Spotlight sale along with designs that are featured in our 2026 catalogue.
The wooden bobbins are a selection that Win says she has been given and/or has bought from retired Lacemakers. Lucky her!
