I’m on Sanday in the northern Orkney islands this week and although there aren’t any fabulous interiors to show you I do love the way islanders find a way to reuse things, specifically these tyres. Got me wondering how I could incorporate tyres in my own garden! 🤔 Ps such a beautiful place 🤩

Just back from a weekend in the Yorkshire Dales for a Three Peaks charity hike challenge and wanted to share a few pics of our room at The Station Inn at Ribblehead. New owners have taken over since I made the original booking and we were lucky enough to get the first room they have refurbished, although apparently the beds didn’t arrive until 4pm so it was touch and go whether we’d have been staying there that night! But as I well know, these things happen and they had a plan B which fortunately wasn’t needed 😥 Anyway, the room was fab, and the beds were super comfy and we felt very honoured to be the first ones to test them out. I loved the subtle train theme, particularly the dark blue leather upholstered headboard and wall panelling, and the image of Ribblehead viaduct above the bed. The views of the viaduct from the pub are amazing, as are all the staff, who couldn’t do enough for us, and the food 😋. If you fancy booking a wee break our room was called Battlebarrow Bank and is in the old bunkhouse 😜

The new patio isn’t quite finished so no pics yet, but after spending all day doing practical, boring garden jobs I treated myself to a nice job and put up the solar pendant lights, and don’t they look pretty 🤩

Tonight’s Interior Design Masters sees the contestants design spaces for a homeless charity. The preview clip shows Emmely making….( 🥁 drum roll) giant papier mache pencils…. At least tonight’s star guest, my favourite comedian in the world, Dara O’Briain will put a smile on my face 😂. Who’s watching with me tonight?

My patio should be finished this week, which means I can move the dining table onto it and hang these beauties over it. In the meantime they can hang out in my backyard looking fabulous. Another fab find from The Range with solar lightbulbs from Amazon 👍

My new patio is almost finished so I’ve finally allowed myself to make a few decorative purchases, starting with a pair of black lanterns from The Range and solar candles from Amazon to go inside them. I was a bit dubious about the candles…. As you can’t see the solar panel (it’s inside the bottom of the candle) I wasn’t convinced they’d charge or be that bright, but I was happy to be proven wrong! They will get their new location once the patio paving has been sealed and grouted, just need a few dry days 🙏

We are two episodes into the latest series of Interior Design Masters and I’ve absolutely no idea who is going to win. I’d like to say it’s because there’s so much talent this year, but sadly I can’t. I hate being so negative about a show I genuinely look forward to but some of the hotel bedroom ideas this week were unforgivable. The wall of open books, and the dried flower arrangements would have had the hotel housekeeping team in tears! No spoilers but I’m amazed the judges were able to keep a straight face when they saw the “wardrobe” solution that this weeks loser “designed”. If Emmely the queen of papier mache survives another week I might have to stop watching….
