Really pleased this framed set of my Worthing prints has found a new home. It brings together The Prom, Pier Amusements, Pavilion Theatre and The Lido, all places with their own stories and seaside nostalgia.

I love drawing Worthing’s Art Deco architecture and public transport heritage because these buildings hold so much memory.

Always a good feeling seeing local work stay local.

I am the Dominion Cinema, Southall, Middlesex. I opened on King Street in 1935, my Art Deco façade curving confidently along the street. Designed by Frank Ernest Bromige, I glowed at night in neon light. My 60-foot stage held film and live performance while my café buzzed and my ballroom shimmered.
As fashions and communities changed, I became an Indian cinema and a meeting place for the Indian Workers Association. In 1979, thousands gathered at my doors to honour Blair Peach. I was not yet fifty when I was labelled obsolete and demolished in 1982.

I am one of 100 new illustrations by Vicky Anne Vaughan for her forthcoming book If Buildings Could Speak (Amberley Publishing, July 2027), giving voice to buildings that remain — and those that were erased.
