SPOTLIGHT on our foul ode to the black death; York 1349.
This is the candle that we are most known for. An inescapable haze of death, that hangs around in the air long after the flame has been extinguished. After the initial tones of decay and rot settle, a complex spectrum of dark herbs and florals intertwine themselves into the death. The unusual scent of human decomposition pushes the herbs and floral tones to their limits, allowing you to experience them in EXACTLY the same way that a plague doctor would have done. We've even gone as far as making sure that the herbal and floral tones are time specific; each note represents herbs and flowers that were commonplace in York, in the year 1349.
But, it's darker tones are not liked by all noses. It has a tendency to divide opinions, which is something that we secretly hoped for when we were designing it. We want our scents to challenge perceptions, and to alter the idea of what a scented candle can be. Whilst it wasn't the first candle we ever made (that one goes to Essence of Vampire) it is the first scent profile that we ever made. From day one, we have always challenged ourselves to make something starkly different, to all other scented candle makers.
It would appear that some candle makers are now trying to imitate York 1349, but none of them will even be in the same league as ours. All of our candles are made with a deep understanding of the skill and excellence required to make bizarrely beautiful scented candles.
Curious? You know what to do.
