Qvevri - 8000 years of winemaking tradition, shaped by hand in Bali

Building a Qvevri is a reviving an ancient Georgian ritual, making it by local clay, building coil by coil, firing wood kiln, coating with beeswax, putting underground to let wine cure in harmony with earth. Its how Georgians have been making wine in Qvevri for a millennia - a method of winemaking recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage.

It took me one year to complete my first Qvevri while being manager of the studio. Indeed it has cracks and lots of different techniques i have tested on it, but it is a learning curve, and this piece covers everything I have been experiencing and learning during this time.

Galungan - Beautiful celebration ceremony details mixed with georgian Blue tabla symbols and Indonesian batik patterns.

decorated with multiple layers of story telling and the beauty of tessellation.

๐Ÿฅฐ tea for two

Nerikomi is a Japanese pottery technique that involves layering, mixing, and manipulating different colored clays to create intricate patterns that are integrated into the clay itself.

As most of my works, this one emerged spontaneously, ending up on a wooden board as a composition nearly after a year of firing its small particles in Soda with

Thank you Ben for this beautiful shades of grey and blue, and for the beautiful Lid you made, which ended up as a full moon stealing the arrowhead.

The trees were intended to be arrowhead pendants, but I guess while living on island i have missed the snow in my life.

Beautiful wood fired color palette from Anagama.

There was a man, who asked me to make a mug, but obviously disappeared, as I still have this mug ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

When we fired Anagama with Robin DuPont I had no pieces for firing and found this beauty on the shelf. As it was a stoneware, wanted to add some sparkle and layered it with Soda Slip.

You see the results, is not it marvelous?

Woodfiring is an ancient pottery technique where wood is used as the fuel to heat a kiln, resulting in unique, often unpredictable, and distinctive visual effects on the ceramic pieces.

The process is known for the natural glaze that forms as wood ash, which vaporizes and deposits on the pottery, creating varied textures and colors.

It is a community-based process that last for 50+ hours at GayaCAC, all the beautiful shades are created by the ashes of bali coffee wood.

Woodfiring is one of the greatest process of surrendering and letting the nature take over your art pieces. Opening and unloading the kiln, is full of presents from nature.

The Dome

This piece is very special to me (indeed every piece i do are very special) It was my first experience firing Anagama at GayaCAC, and had no pieces to put in the kiln, but remembered the Dome, which I trow while Jose Mariscal was teaching, and forgot in a spray booth, covered with porcelain slip. the very first 50 hours of firing, team effort and work in shifts.

50 shades of balinese coffee tree ashes and flames, witness the result yourself.

The universe in the bowl - The sun, the Moon, galaxies and all the sparkling starts

Stunning color palette of Gayagama in a bowl. the deepest gratitude to .studio who gave me an opportunity to become part of this magical ritual, who opened the doors of this beautiful art of fire, when one just has to surrender and let the four elements create its magic in the Kiln.

Feeling lucky being part of the firing, and receiving this beautiful gift.

Miniature chess

was always spending my summer vacations with my grandparents, spending late night playing chess with my grandpa.

It was my favorite time and game, he was teaching me patience and telling me interesting stories.

Wish we have enjoyed more time together.

Created this piece small enough to be able to enjoy the game everywhere with tea and endless interesting stories.

๐Ÿ™ thank you grandpa

Harnessing the dragon - merging two Japanese art into one piece, Raku and Sh***ri

the idea was born as soon as iโ€™ve left the room after the session and it was cooking my head for several month until the right moment came to mend the pieces together.

Experiencing art of Sh***ri was one of the deepest experiences iโ€™ve head while living in Bali. Life canโ€™t be the same again, after all the emotions and feelings Iโ€™ve had with the master ๐Ÿ™

Poppy - not only the beautiful flower made from clay, but one of my strongest childhood memories, when riding country side in Georgia fields are all red during the spring.
During one of our family weekends, my father stopped in the middle of the road and whole family were gliding through the fields of poppies, taking photos and just being happy with the overwhelming beauty and unity.

Grateful to for sharing her knowledge and for her patience. I got sick during the workshop, so had to fire later in a Raku kiln and here is the result.
