The northern Kente cloth/fabric comes in two forms, there is the female cloth and the male one. Patterns/designs may not vary much....the distinguishing difference lies in the cloth itself. The female cloth (which is a preserve for female weavers) is wider whilst the male cloth, suitable for the fugu/smock is smaller in width.
In the attached picture, the Lady on the left is weaving a female cloth whilst the Lady on the right is weaving a male cloth.
Can you tell the difference?
