Well, seeing as it’s Christmas . . .
It was a bit tricky, getting the corresponding lengths to fit tightly, and the glue-up was fiddly, so I did it in two parts, but I think it came out ok in the end.
Had orders for three more, so will be busy over Christmas . . . no rest for the wicked 🤣

Sunday was an enlightening day, in more ways than one. I decided to make a lamp from the stuff I had and to use hand tools as much as possible.
The base is a pine block but the slats are all birch and it took me all day to sand them . . . my right arm hasn't seen so much action since I was 14 years old ;)

Made a waiters' tray and stand on Saturday.Hopefully it will get some use and we can have evening drinks on the balcony ...

It's 700mm x 500mm all made from scraps and leftovers in the workshop.

A handy little gizmo if you enjoy crochet or knitting.
The spindle takes all common sizes of thread spools or you can just push it through a ball of knitting wool. It turns freely without coming out, but is simple to remove to change threads.
There's also a handle little place to put your needles and/or hooks.
Easy to use when placed on a table or on the floor.
Another great gadget from MiG . . . ;)

Took inspiration from something similar and planed up a bit of pallet wood to make this keyholder. I intended painting the "houses", but then, my lazy side overcame my industrious side . . . they call that 'being arty' . . . ;) Anyway, I quite like the look of the wood, finished with two coats of half-pound cut shellac, so bone dry within ten minutes of applying the finish.
Far from perfect, but then, isn't that what 'rustic' is all about? And most importantly, my wife likes it, so . . . if you're reading this darling, bread pudding next week? ;)

I’ve been away from the workshop for a couple of months - our car decided to blow up and we were stuck in Athens while they fitted another engine. Very inconvenient and very expensive . . . However . . . I’m back now and have codgered up some folding step stools.
I think they’re nice, quite unique (can something be ‘quite’ unique?), very useful, I mean, who doesn’t need some household steps now and again? Changing light bulbs, reaching for those winter clothes that were stored on top of the wardrobe, etc. They are also very comfortable to sit on, and a perfect height for playing guitar, if guitars are your thing. They can be folded to stash away in narrow spaces if you don’t have room to keep them out, or if you prefer they can be used as items of home decor . . . they make unusual display stands, plant stands, even small bookshelves.
I’m pleased with them and I think the design is pretty good.
