Reflectlights, a company of architectural lighting and lighting market, was founded in 2001 aspiring to unstintingly support and contribute to the materialization of the personal visions set by the Architects creators of buildings and spaces. Placing particular emhasis on the architectural approach to the relation between light and shade and steadily following new technologies, the company aims at

confirming its designing proficiency, technological perfection and aesthetich approach regarding the total range of the distinct projects so far performed.

In a photograph, light already exists.

The photographer has already decided on shadow, contrast, atmosphere.

Exhibition lighting has one job: support those decisions without disturbing them.

That's exactly the condition we faced at the Heraklion Archaeological Museum for Michalis Krasakis' photography exhibition.

Fixed tracks, existing infrastructure, and a set of technical constraints that made every aiming decision count.

Moments from the opening of “Tracing Light” at the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion, which took place last week.

An evening dedicated to photography, archaeology and the quiet ways in which light can shape the museum experience.

The exhibition presents 100 original photographic prints from the Michalis Krasakis Collection, curated by Stella Koukoulaki, creating a dialogue between cultural heritage, photographic history and contemporary experience.

For Reflect Lights, the challenge was not simply to illuminate the works, but to create lighting conditions that could reveal them carefully and respectfully.

Working with original silver prints from the late 19th and early 20th century always requires balance: between visibility and protection, atmosphere and conservation.

The uses of the space will constantly change. The only thing that can follow them is the light.

A look back at our 2024 lighting design for the Multipurpose Hall in the Kilkis Regional Unit building — a public project designed to host a wide range of activities, from theatrical performances and film screenings to lectures and conferences. The seats cannot be moved, but lighting can adapt.

Our approach:

— Three-phase track lighting for fixture flexibility and multiple circuits on the same track
— Three reflector types, each with a defined role: narrow-beam spots for circulation paths, wide-beam fixtures for general auditorium lighting, wall washers for the side walls
— Hidden lighting to accentuate the architectural lines and geometry of the space
— Warm and cool contrasts to articulate the space; color lighting reserved exclusively for the stage
— Pre-programmed scenes stored in the lighting management system, for easy adjustment depending on the event
— Dedicated safety lighting for evacuation during screenings or power outages
Adaptability is the key to lighting design for multi-purpose halls.

A common objection we hear in professional spaces: one light switch is enough.

Usually behind this phrase there's a fear that lighting will get too complicated — apps, tons of buttons, tech support. Understandable.

But a professional space carries multiple functions throughout the day: focus work, collaboration, presentations, a more relaxed afternoon rhythm.

Each of those moments has different lighting needs.

Lighting scenes are an adaptation tool. With a simple separation of direct, indirect, or accent lighting circuits, you can create a few basic room settings — work mode at around 500 lux, meeting mode with more balanced light, presentation mode with lower ambient intensity.

Done well, scene setup reduces daily decisions rather than adding to them.

And the ability to control your environment is a matter of spatial quality, not a luxury feature.

One phrase we often hear on projects is: "Just use the same fixture everywhere".

Usually this doesn't mean the client wants bad lighting. It means they want simplicity, economy, or to avoid confusion.

But when we use the same light everywhere, the space loses its hierarchy. Our eyes don't know where to focus.

Everything has the same intensity, the same importance.

In reality, every space divides into zones, work, circulation, gathering, and relaxation.

Each zone needs different intensity and different light quality.

A unified look doesn't mean uniformity. Lighting reveals function. It doesn’t flatten it.

Every collaboration we begin has a reason behind it.

The decision to work with Ingo Maurer came from a clear sense of direction. At a time when much of the lighting industry revolves around performance, image, and repetition, we choose to move towards creativity, identity, and experience.

Ingo Maurer built a body of work on his own terms — rewriting what light could mean in a space.

At Reflect Lights, all collaborations are a deliberate choice. And this one is a statement of direction.

Reflections: TIF Helexpo HQ – Thessaloniki (2006)

Light as a relational field
before integration became methodology

In 2006, at the headquarters of TIF HELEXPO in Thessaloniki, a lighting concept was implemented that approached light not as an applied system, but as a spatial condition.

At a time when lighting design was largely understood as a technical layer, positioned after architecture, this project explored a different premise: light and space co-define each other.

The building is characterized by an exposed metal structure, a tectonic system that remains visible and active. Within this condition, lighting was introduced to operate in continuity with the architecture — not to modify it.

This project can be understood today as an early application of what we define as quantum aesthetics: a design approach where space is perceived as a relational field emerging through the interaction of light, material, structure, and observer.
