My mother toured South America playing the piano in the USO band in the years right after WWII. Tanya was the name given to her by the Russian family she boarded with when she came to NYC to go to Juilliard at age 16. She was a classically trained pianist who studied with Artur Rubinstein among others. I marvel at what a very different time it was. They were the generation who saved much of the world from fascism. Heroes all - and here we are again. But today just sending out love to all who take on motherhood; it’s still the biggest vote for love conquering all! 💕.

When we staged the Eagle Rock Craftsman for the photo shoot I borrowed rugs from the great and fell in love with this first amazing Bidjar in the Living Room. A year and a half later it found its final home in my new Hancock Park project. The beautiful rug in the Primary bedroom went to another lucky family out of town! But this Craftsman still has my heart 💜 ❤️🧡📷:

When you’re able to start a new project by finding the perfect room-size rug it’s so lucky. This extraordinary Bidjar from is more than 100 years old and has such a rich palette of colors to start us on our design journey 🎨.
