Large teapot with unusual lacquer decoration - Sino-Tibetan, 18th/19th Century, bulbous copper jug with a flattened shoulder, partially gilded, body, spout and lid with red lacquer coating, the foot is flared and adorned with an ornamented lotus leaf wreath in two rows, on the spherical wall two large reserves with frolicking Fo dogs surrounded by meandering Lotos tendrils in red carved lacquer, a relief border with Ashtamangala symbols around the neck, red lacquer decoration on the coupled lid with tendril and meander motifs and a crown with a wreath of lotus leaves and a lotus bud as a pommel, the large ear handle is scaled and decorated with an extremely imposing horned dragon head,the curved spout also originates from the wide-open mouth of a scaled dragon's head (possibly also Makara), lid tinned on the inside, gilding partially rubbed, the chain connecting the lid and handle is missing (small eyelets present), H.ca. 34 cm, W.ca.41 cm
