From concept to completion.

Renderings play an important role in helping clients visualise a project before construction begins, but their purpose extends beyond presentation. They become a reference point throughout the design process, helping align decisions as the project moves from concept into reality.

At Robinson Road, the completed residence remains closely aligned with the original vision. While details naturally evolve during procurement and construction, the overall atmosphere, proportions, and character of the space were carried through to completion.

For Atelier Shan, successful ex*****on is not about replicating a rendering exactly. It is about how authentic and personal the finished space feels for its owners.

Swipe to compare the vision with the final outcome.

Dot Cod Hong Kong.

From the earliest conversations, there was a clear desire to preserve the spirit of Dot Cod and the Hong Kong Cricket Club while allowing the restaurant to evolve into its next chapter. This shared vision shaped the project from the outset, creating a balance between continuity and renewal throughout the design process.

Projects of this nature are rarely the result of design alone. They are built on trust, collaboration, and a shared understanding of what should be preserved. When that alignment exists the outcome becomes more meaningful and enduring.

A special thank you to Clara Li and the Hong Kong Cricket Club team for their ever inspiring passion for Cricket, serving their members, and carrying the legacy of the club throughout the project.

The bar was always intended to be the focal point of Kinsman. A Calacatta Viola marble countertop is paired with Nero Marquina table lamp bases, creating a strong visual anchor at the heart of the space.

The intimate 50-seat cocktail salon draws inspiration from the world captured in In the Mood for Love. References to old Hong Kong can be found throughout the interior, from the shophouse-inspired chequered flooring to the mural by local illustrator , which celebrates former landmarks across the city. Menu illustrations by continue this narrative and are displayed throughout the space.

First impressions were equally important. The entrance features bespoke terrazzo flooring with an embedded brass Kinsman logo, offering a contemporary interpretation of the terrazzo floors commonly found throughout Hong Kong during the 1960s.

Throughout the project, attention was given to creating moments of intimacy. Textured stained glass was introduced between booths as privacy screens, referencing materials often seen in classic cinemas while providing a sense of separation within the space.

Vintage pendant lighting, rich red banquettes, and iconic LC7 chairs complete the interior, creating an environment that feels romantic, layered, and distinctly connected to the character of old Hong Kong.

The transition from concept visuals to completed space is rarely a direct translation.

Throughout the development of Kinsman, drawings, material studies, and spatial references were continually refined in response to construction conditions, atmosphere, and how the space would ultimately be experienced by guests.

The project explored a contemporary interpretation of old Hong Kong, using layered materials, lighting, and architectural references to create a space that feels familiar without becoming literal.

Comparing concept imagery alongside the completed interior reveals how design ideas evolve through the construction process while remaining connected to the original intention behind the project.

Behind every completed project is a process of coordination, refinement, and problem solving carried out on site.

For Kinsman, the design development phase involved close collaboration between the clients, Atelier Shan, contractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure the atmosphere and material language of the project could be carried through from concept to ex*****on.

These moments behind the scenes are an important part of the design process, where ideas are tested, refined, and gradually translated into a completed environment.

Designing the backdrop for some of Hong Kong’s most celebrated food and beverage concepts.

It is a privilege to collaborate with visionary chefs, founders, bartenders, and private clubs who share a commitment to excellence. Each brings a distinct perspective and a deep understanding of how brand, hospitality, and service come together to create something memorable.

Many of these concepts have gone on to receive industry recognition and top rankings, but more importantly, they continue to build loyal communities and enduring success.

Trattoria Felino was designed as a casual Italian restaurant inspired by the atmosphere and character of Naples.

Located in Wan Chai, the project brings together warm materials, layered textures, and a more intimate spatial rhythm to create an environment that feels relaxed and welcoming. The interior balances simplicity with detail, allowing the food, lighting, and material palette to shape the experience naturally.

Designed in close collaboration with the founders, the project reflects a shared approach to creating a space that feels grounded, lived-in, and connected to its identity.
