村民和農夫的生活會怎樣?孩子的生活會怎樣?村裡的動物會怎樣?在疫情反覆的世界,無止境的發展,會令人類生活遠遠脫離大自然的關係。在後疫情時代,多國也在探索城鄉共融的方式,香港將會往哪兒去?
Oh no, this villager is forced to leave by 8th December, the store he ran no longer in service. 😟 Separation and resistance keep going on and on throughout the past few years in Mashipo village-one of the last farming villages in Hong Kong – will soon be swallowed up by a government land supply project. Residents are forced to move out according to the lands department notices placed on the wall outside their homes. Where can they farm? Where can kids play? Where can pets live?

薑黄係咖喱嘅重要香料,亦有非常重要既藥用價值,當中含有的薑黃素具有消炎功效,亦有抗氧化效果。印度人用薑黃嘅歷史可以追溯上千年呢。適逢幾個月前見到有元朗農夫係網上出售薑黃苗,令我膽粗粗買咗來種。他喜歡香港的氣候,比想像中易種,而且最近開咗花,第一次見薑黃開花,花形好特別好靚,但為免花朵爭奪根部養分,我將花朵收割了。雖然花朵可以食用,但我唔捨得,最後將佢放喺客廳,點綴家居😊
Turmeric is a spice that gives curry its yellow colour. It has been used in India for thousands of years as a spice and medicinal herb, which contains curcumin with powerful anti-inflammatory effects. Also it’s a very strong antioxidant. I saw a farmer sold turmeric root online by chance and bought it few months ago. It takes 3.5 month to grow from a root to a plant over 1m tall! It’s amazing to see the flower blossoms for the first time, I cut it off for saving more nutrient to develop root, end up the flower colours my home 😊

苦瓜又名「半生瓜」,小時不懂欣賞,覺得苦味怎會好吃,偏偏當農夫的爺爺喜愛吃苦瓜,實在難以理解。不過,隨年月漸長,嘗到苦瓜苦到盡處會帶甘甜,使人生津解渴,連喝水也會喝到甜味,漸漸懂得爺爺的心思。可惜,他在5年前90歲仙遊。每次我種菜,都習慣在園裏多種幾棵苦瓜,感覺自己和天上的爺爺距離拉近。😌😌😌
Bittermelon is my grandad’s favourite, some naming it 'half-mature gourd', which symbolises the immaturity and the ignorance in the younger days, that people are too young to appreciate the bitterness of life. When I was a kid, I can hardly enjoy bittermelon, but now, I start to appreciate the taste.It is because whenever I have it, it reminds me the good olds day with my grandad, who passed away in 2015 at the age of 90. 😌😌😌

PS, the bittermelon plant is dancing silk ribbons with a baby fruit, it looks fun isn’t it? 😍

大家好,我係Clarice, 生於香港一個務農家庭。阿公係客家人,早於60年代逃難來香港,係打鼓嶺種米種菜,將農產品供應俾香港家庭。雖然到我呢一代已經唔係農夫,但阿公令我欣賞本地菜嘅滋味。開設呢個page, 係想分享下我嘅田園生活,係疫情反覆嘅時候,特別明白大自然幾咁重要,本地菜值得香港人好好珍惜。

仲有幾日就9月,秋播季節開始喇!要好好把握機會播種了!

Hello everyone, this is Clarice from Hong Kong. I was born and raised in an agricultural Hakka family, my grandfather fled to Hong Kong and became a local farmer during 1960s-1990s in Ta Ku Leng. He made Hong Kong home and grew rice and other veggies to serve local people. Although I am not a farmer like my grandfather did, I always appreciate local food and hope more people enjoy gardening. 😃

Welcome to this little green corner, I will share my gardening journey here. When September is approaching, it’s time to plan autumn sowing!
