TCFA Fans Series🪭

A Rococo-Chinoiserie fan, circa 18th century. The carved and pierced mother-of-pearl sticks are gilded with flowers and foliate patterns, the guards inset with figures.

The painted paper leaf depicts an idyllic tableau of Chinese figures gathered around tables in a traditional courtyard, fringed with ruyi-cloud borders. The reverse with the central vignette shows a harmonious European family scene with mother and children.

一柄洛可可-中國風折扇,製於約十八世紀，扇骨及護板以鍍金鏤雕螺鈿製成，飾以花卉纏枝紋與人物紋樣。

紙本雙面設色，正面工筆精繪林院雅集圖，人物環桌而坐，圍几清談，邊綴飾以如意雲紋；背面中央小景繪有歐洲母子家庭圖，是家庭和諧的寓意，慈幼之情躍然絹上。

Previously owned by William Drew Braidwood,
founder of the Craigengower Cricket Club, Victoria English School and Ellis Kadoorie School, in 1890s Hong Kong.
