Hand-Painted Borders ๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒผ I was so inspired by the name cards created by the talented IAMPETH community, I would love to collect them all! But I knew I couldnโ€™t just ask people without giving something back ๐Ÿ˜

So, last minute, I made some of my own cards right on the plane and at the airport. It was tricky to paint while traveling, but it will definitely be worth it! ๐Ÿงก

๐Œ๐ž๐ž๐ญ ๐‡๐จ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐‚๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ž ๐๐ซ๐š๐ฒ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐Œ๐š๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ฌ ๐Ÿ’š She officially moved into my home on July 25, just before the typhoon hit. This is a painting I did in 2022, I was already fascinated by this majestic creature! I named her Hoppy โ€” a happy and hopeful Praying Mantis ๐Ÿ’š

Hoppy is a Chinese praying mantis, an adult with a 9cm body length, about 4โ€“6 months old. The 6 segments on her lower body indicate she is female.

Fun fact: Large praying mantises can catch and eat small birds! The minimum size for a praying mantis to successfully hunt a bird is generally about 2.4 to 4 inches (6 to 10 centimeters) in body length. Hoppy is 9 cm long!

I first met her on 24 July, but I found her still hanging around on my balcony the next day! Since there was a typhoon that weekend, I decided to bring her indoor on 25 July. Itโ€™s also my anniversary with Siu Yu ๐Ÿพ that day, maybe Siu Yu returns her spirit in another animal form?

I built a house for her with materials I found at home. Kola was curious about her friend!

Hoppy was hungry! I fed her Cherry Cockroaches bought from a reptile specialist shop.

Yesterday I set up Hoppyโ€™s new home with a new breeding pet box with holes for fresh air, plus hanging branches, organic soil, and Lamma leaves.

Not many of you know that I used to live in London for 8 years in my mid twenties! I went back to England last month to visit family. During my two weeks stay, I stopped work and was able to focus on things I love โ€” time with family; creating personal artwork; my love for penmanship with my niece and nephew; visiting art exhibitions! Overall it was a relaxing time to rewind and be inspired ๐Ÿงก

Exactly 3 years ago today, I was in Paris with my hubby and we stumbled across the Bibliothรจque Mazarine (Mazarin Library) completely by accident. We walked in and realised they had a facsimile (high quality replica) of the ๐–ฆ๐—Ž๐—๐–พ๐—‡๐–ป๐–พ๐—‹๐—€ ๐–ก๐—‚๐–ป๐—…๐–พ.
