ODD ONE OUT

ODD ONE OUT Feel free to get in touch regarding our art prints and questions or general small talk. We hope to bring joy and happiness into your home.

ODD ONE OUT is the first gallery in Hong Kong dedicated to illustration, graphic arts & printmaking situated in Hong Kong. Opening in 2012, we have been exhibiting printmakers and illustrators around the world. Working as a bridge to develop the appreciation of printmaking and encourage Hong Kong artists to explore other possibilities, starting in 2014, we started editioning and publishing limited

edition art prints and artist books by local artists who have not traditionally worked in print mediums. This belief that art should be enjoyed by all runs through everything we do. Our goal is to bring people together in a comfortable environment where they can enjoy and art in all its forms. We are always looking for the next great artist ( international or local) to help support and promote to a wider audience.

While Odd One Out is now 100% online, we know there is nothing quite like flipping through the pages of a beautifully printed zine and feeling the paper up close. 👀✨
That’s why we are so incredibly excited to announce that a curated selection of our zine collection (along with some prints!) has found a physical home on Lantau Island at Seek Seed (種種). 🌱
Seek Seed is a gorgeous curated bookstore and community space in Mui Wo focused on “planting actions, choices and possibilities across the tides of island living.” It perfectly captures a slow, intentional lifestyle, making it the absolute best setting to sit down and discover our indie artists’ publications.
Next time you catch the ferry for a weekend island escape, pop in to browse their amazing selection of books, crafts, and our latest zines! ⛴️📚

Archiving the everyday. 🌿
We first hosted Japanese artist Ayaka Asano for an exhibition in our space back in 2021. Since then, her ability to capture the intimate, fleeting moments of the everyday has only grown more profound.

In her latest series of prints, Asano continues to explore the inherent sadness and joy of passing time. Rooted in her lifelong habit of documenting ordinary scraps and daily memories, this collection captures a beautiful spectrum of quiet observation. It moves from the wistful imagination of The Lookout at Night and the sensory nostalgia of The Sweetness Smelled One Spring, to the botanical resilience found in Grape Hyacinth Sisters and Dandelion in the Water, and the quiet anticipation of Thinking of the Sea.

The physical ex*****on of these pieces is what makes them truly special. Working on an intimate scale, Asano combines the meticulous, precise lines of traditional copperplate etching with the delicate touch of hand-coloured transparent watercolours. Because of this monotype process, each gem-like silhouette is beautifully fragile, possessing its own entirely unique tonal variations.

It is a brilliant exercise in transforming the overlooked into something quietly precious.

When the tool becomes the subject. 🖌️

In Brushes, Amsterdam-based artist Hugo Rocci () turns his painter’s eye onto the paintbrushes themselves. Cataloguing everything from worn, handmade bristles to precise, mass-produced tools, the series was originally painted using a rich blend of casein, oil, and raw windmill-milled pigments.

Published by Terry Bleu studio in a beautifully elongated edition, the book matches the craft of its subject: featuring a tactile screen-printed hardcover and four-colour offset interiors on heavy Arena Natural Rough paper. Amidst the rush of Hong Kong Art Week, it is a quiet exercise in slowing down and noticing the elegance of utility.

A spectrum of silence. 🌈

Following the quiet roots of our last drop, we’re turning the volume up—chromatically speaking.

Rainbow by Spanish artist María Medem deconstructs the world into seven wordless narratives. Moving linearly from Red to Violet, each chapter explores how color dictates atmosphere.

There is no dialogue here. Instead, a wandering monkey travels through shifting landscapes to collect the hues of the world. Influenced by the slow cinema of Ozu and the ethereal rhythms of Flamenco, Medem treats each page like a film still—a meditation on memory, water, and connection.

It’s a book that asks you to slow down and listen to the colors.

A Diptych of the Mind Overthinker collection

The Proud Overthinker Reclaiming the spiral. This zine reframes the busy mind not as a flaw, but as a privilege—a rare luxury of time and freedom in an age of distraction. An art object that honors the intricate, maddening beauty of our inner monologue.

Dreamer A shift in trajectory. If we possess the energy to obsess, why not direct it toward joy? This sequel explores the alchemy of perspective, redirecting the anxious gaze until worries become seeds, and overthinking blooms into dreaming.

Two gentle reading companions for the quiet chaos of modern life.
