【繡出歷史！🪡✨ 「The Circle of Life」⭕ Opus Anglicanum 作品喺倫敦正式揭幕！】
​啱啱過咗嘅 7 月 9 號，對我嚟講絕對係畢生難忘嘅一日！身為 Lincoln Cathedral Needlework Guild 嘅其中一員，我好榮幸能夠參與英國 The Worshipful Company of Upholders 慶祝 400 週年嘅「The Circle of Life」大型刺繡作品。當日，我哋去到倫敦 Guildhall 出席咗極之莊嚴又隆重嘅揭幕儀式午宴 🥂✨！
​成個流程真係好充實、好震撼：
1️⃣ 展覽與交流： 儀式開始前，大會設有展覽。除咗我哋，仲有其餘11間大教堂、 RSN、The Drapers’ Company 同 The Broderers' Company 等等機構參與。大家一邊飲住香檳同雞尾酒，一邊欣賞同交流，氣氛愉快融洽！
2️⃣ 華麗的三道菜午宴： 喺充滿歷史感嘅 Guildhall 大堂入面享用咗好精緻嘅 3-course lunch 🍽️ （ 唔可以用手機，所以影唔到相 😌）
3️⃣ 震撼嘅棺木儀式： 食飽之後，重頭戲嚟喇！大家可能會好奇點解現場會有副棺木（coffin）？原來 Upholders 嘅傳統歷史工藝除咗家具裝飾，仲包括「殯儀（Funeral Directing）」。12 間大教堂一針一線綉出嚟當中嘅12 幅作品，其實可以組裝成一塊蓋喺棺木上嘅華麗禮喪罩（Funeral Pall）！當日儀式護柩人員抬起蓋上我哋作品嘅棺木，喺宴會廳緩緩繞行，配合住現場嘅祝酒同演說，莊嚴得嚟令人非常感動 🕯️✨
4️⃣ 最激動嘅時刻： 當聽到大會邀請全場所有參與過嘅 stitchers 企起身接受全場熱烈鼓掌致敬嗰一刻，我感到滿滿嘅自豪感😎
5️⃣ 終極大合照： 儀式過後，我哋終於可以近距離欣賞合體後嘅完整作品。呢個時候，所有刺繡已經從棺木移師到一個極之宏偉嘅圓形木製旋轉展架上，我哋一班 stitchers 在大會安排下影大合照 📸

今次時間有限，淨係行咗 Main House，但已經俾我發現到呢 3️⃣ 件寶物！內心掙扎咗好耐，最後都係決定「忍手」唔買 🙈

Ever since moving to the UK, I’ve been hitting up Hemswell Antique Centres once or twice a year for some treasure hunting 💎
I was a bit short on time so I only managed to do the Main House, but I still spotted these 3️⃣ gorgeous pieces! After a massive internal battle, I somehow managed to behave myself and walk away empty-handed 🙈

完美金繡（Goldwork）嘅秘密，全靠細節！✨

今日正在刺繡金屬片（Spangles）——大家睇清楚，spangles同平時普通嘅令片 sequins 係兩回事嚟㗎！

​放大你會見到，spangles上面有一個好微細嘅開口位。秘訣在於落針嗰陣，條線一定要啱啱好卡定喺個開口入面，塊金屬片先至會夠平、夠穩陣。
​雖然係比 sequins 花心機好多，但出到嚟嗰種精緻嘅高級感，時間心機係值得花嘅！🧵💛

The secret to flawless goldwork? It’s all in the details! ✨

Today I’m sewing on spangles—and no, they aren't just regular sequins.

​Look closely and you'll see real metal spangles have a tiny slit. The trick is catching the thread exactly inside that slit so it sits perfectly flat. A bit more tedious than standard sequins, but that crisp, traditional finish is so worth it! 🧵💛

This incredibly worn-out and torn plush hippo came to me needing serious help, but I didn't want to remove or destroy a single piece of its original fabric......
​So I used a museum-inspired conservation technique:
1️⃣ Built a custom, quilted protective layer directly over the original fragile body to stabilize it.
2️⃣ Sculpted a brand-new "finishing layer" on top, recreating all its classic features—eyes, ears, nose, and mouth.
​The original hippo is perfectly intact and resting safely inside its new armor now. It’s a mix of textile conservation and restoration, allowing this sweet toy to be loved for years to come.

這隻又爛到穿窿嘅河馬公仔嚟到我手嘅時候，情況非常危急。我唔想拆走佢身上嘅舊布料，因為全部都係歲月同愛嘅痕跡。
​所以，我決定用一個博物館級嘅文物保育（Conservation）概念去處理：
1️⃣ 先喺原本脆弱嘅公仔表面，度身訂造一層好似盔甲咁嘅夾棉保護層，去幫佢加固同穩定結構。
2️⃣ 然後喺呢個保護層之上，由零開始缝製全新嘅外層，逐一還原返佢嘅眼睛、耳仔、口同鼻。
而家原本嗰隻舊河馬，好安全咁留喺新外殼入面。呢個做法結合咗紡織品保育同修復技術，既可以比佢喺入面「好好休息」，又可以繼續陪伴主人。
