Meet Fadma and her roosters 🐓
Fadma is the new daughter-in-law of elder Fadma, head of a High Atlas weaving community we work with. While she is new to the extended family, she is certainly not new to weaving.
This pink rooster rug is one of the first pieces she made for our upcoming collection. More rugs by her are on their way from Morocco, but we couldn’t resist bringing this one back with us ahead of the rest of the shipment. You can already see it in person at our Nagy Diófa Street store, or send us a DM for details!

Boujad rugs have a way of bringing colour and character into a room without taking it over. Their shaggy wool texture, spontaneous design and mixed shades create a warm, lively backdrop for everyday life. Eid al-Adha begins now in Morocco and Aisha’s rug beautifully captures the atmosphere of Eid and Ahwash in her High Atlas village 🐑

Eid al-Adha is one of the most important celebrations in Morocco, commemorating Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his beloved son as an act of faith, before God replaced him with a ram. Across the country, families celebrate with sacrifice, shared meals, prayer and gathering together — with meat shared among relatives, neighbours and those in need.

In Aisha’s village, the festivities take place in and around an old kasbah up on the hill — with the whole extended families gathering, women preparing special dishes and music & dancing continuing late into the night.
