Eid al-Adha begins now in Morocco and Aisha’s rug beautifully captures the atmosphere of Eid and Ahwash in her High Atlas village 🐑
Eid al-Adha is one of the most important celebrations in Morocco, commemorating Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his beloved son as an act of faith, before God replaced him with a ram. Across the country, families celebrate with sacrifice, shared meals, prayer and gathering together — with meat shared among relatives, neighbours and those in need.
In Aisha’s village, the festivities take place in and around an old kasbah up on the hill — with the whole extended families gathering, women preparing special dishes and music & dancing continuing late into the night. Her rug is a personal snapshot of celebration, community and village life in the High Atlas. Available online: https://abrarugs.com/shop/lamb-celebration-rug
Eid Mubarak to everyone celebrating!
