KLEO located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia since 2006. Our products are made for outdoor and indoor use by using sustainable processes and low maintenance materials. All our furniture is created from recycled boat wood. KLEO is known among fisher folks along the northern coast of Java, Indonesia, because of our attentive concern about boat wrecks that litter the coastline and go to waste. Through years of engagement with coastal communities, locals have learnt to put a value on the wood, and the benefit to local communities and the environment is a priority to us.

The boats have served coastal communities well for 40-50 years. When looking at a pile of wood from a dismantled wreck, it is hard to imagine that precious KLEO designs could emerge. The piles are messy and smelly. The wood is worn and dirty and smeared in thick layers of old paint. But miraculously, this is where the beauty of our products begins. By sanding the surfaces, the wood is given new life, and paint turns into colorful marbled patterns and mosaics. The different color schemes tell us where the boats come from. When at sea, even sailors have desire to signal where home is, and each area uses their respective district colors.
