Ria Glass Art

22/10/2026

My little elves made great progress with their decorations at our class in Ballon Business & Training Service on Tuesday.
We made a start on cutting the larger angel, which has a few tricky curves, but they did really well.
One of my ladies went on to design and cut her own baubles 😍💖
We should get them soldered next week and squeeze in a robin in the last class 🥰

My students at the last glass commented how lovely the copper foil was against the green glass. I told them it is possible to do a "Copper Finish" but it's something I avoid because it's so unpredictable and it can end up looking uneven and dirty.
I decided to give it another go...
Pardon my lack of video skills. The tick is to drown the solder in patina after you wash and polish the solder.
Pat dry with a paper towel, do not wash. It has a dull look so I finished it with Turtle Wax and elbow grease to get a nice shine 💪✨️
Which would you prefer? Silver or copper 🤔

We had another great class at Ballon Business & Training Service on Tuesday evening.
I was so impressed by how well the students picked up the art of cutting glass, which can be very daunting.
They chose to make a start with this small Christmas Tree decoration which they will solder next week.
My advanced student is racing ahead and made a start on a large angel. Can't wait to see all the finished pieces 🤗

A little video showing the different stages of making one of my nativity scenes which will be ready for my upcoming Gaolhouse Craft Fair this Saturday, 3rd October 🥰

I do love making these Nativity Scenes. As you can see each one has different colours and types of glass.
During a big clean up of my workshop I found some beautiful glass that I don't think is being made anymore 😩
I'll have to me more mindful of my choices this year 💖
