The Master Weaver John Heena from Ardara, was here at Glendowen Craft shop to put a new warp on our loom and what a beautiful warp it is.
We are so lucky, John is an amazing Craftsman and helps us keep the Donegal Tweed hand weaving tradition alive here in Inishowen.

We will have weaving, spinning and knitting demonstrations.
Muiris O hEigheartaigh will host a talk on the History of Textiles in the Southwest Donegal Gaeltacht and will have the beautiful book available for sale.
There will be a traditional Irish Music session featuring talented local musicians.
All are welcome to attend this free event.

CELEBRATING NATIONAL HERITAGE WEEK 2026
Join us next Saturday 22nd August from 12 noon for a great day of Weaving, Spinning, Knitting demonstrations.
Book signing and talk on the History of textiles in Southwest Donegal Gaeltacht.

Next Saturday 22nd August here at Glendowen Craft Shop we are celebrating
We are promoting the wonderful new book A History of Textiles in South West Donegal and are delighted to be welcoming Muiris O hEigheartaigh, book co-ordinator and researcher to give a talk on the book.
There will be a limited number of the books available for sale on the day.
Master Weaver John Heena will be demonstrating hand weaving, Joan Walker will be demonstrating on her Spinning wheel and Bernie Doherty will be demonstrating the art of hand knitting an Aran sweater
We will have live traditional music from 3.30 featuring local talented musicians.
Everyone is welcome to this free event.
