Lets create some silliness to start the week.

Type 'with my own 2 hands, I made' tgen create tge rest of the sentace with predictive text.

Here's my first one, it makes absolutely no sense! (Which is part of the fun!)

'With my own 2 hands I made ...the tip of a lampshade before starting the first thing about dogs

I'll do another one in the comments, then your turn!

This week, I built my first raised bed. I'm in shock! My first ever woodworking project, all done by me. Just need to buy and add a trellis, and get the soil and plants in, so actually, still lots of work.

It felt like designing a pattern. Measuring, (measure *twice*, cut once) shaping, thinking about function and form. Years of knitting, crochet and sewing didnt feel at all irrelevant. Stitches and wood and soil. Its all working with materials. Who knew?
What’s your unexpected skill crossover? Or are you sticking to yarn this heatwave?

Is handwashing wooly kints or crocheted items something that intimidates you? Handwashing is huge work compared to throwing something in the washing machine. BUT, wool is naturally dirt resistant. It only needs washed very occasionally. Airing a wool garment is enough after daily wear.
So which is more labour for a lazy person like me? The shop bought cotton sweatshirt? Its so practical and warm for shopping around the house. But it needs washed every time I wear it, even if its only a few hours. My new Delvin pullover will only get washed when needed, which will just be every now and again, and can be a relaxing, mindful task, very different from the daily grind of endless laundry piles.

I published this pattern in a magazine in December 2023… and it’s just now up on my blog. 😅
Why? Because I added adult sizes, fiddled with the formatting, and—let’s be honest—got distracted by all the other things. But here we are! The Beenoskee Mittens are finally live, and they’re the perfect quick project for gifts (or treating yourself).
✨ Why you’ll love them:
- Ripple stitch texture for cozy vibes
- 4 sizes (toddler to adult)
- Free on my blog (or grab the PDF in my Ravelry store)
- Low-vision and abbreviation-free formats included
