I’ve always enjoyed being creative and making gifts to give to family and friends. However, it wasn’t until the death of our beautiful little boy Edward that I realised the true benefits of creating art. Edward arrived eight weeks early and sadly he was born very sick. He fought so hard but despite his determination, the help from the medical team and th

e love that Peadar and I were giving him, the struggle was too much for him. After just five days we had to let him go. I’m so grateful and thankful to Edward for giving us those days. They’re days I treasure always even though there was huge sadness in those days there was so much love felt between Peadar, I and Edward. The days, weeks and months that followed Edward’s death were full of pain and I know the years ahead of us will be tinged with that pain too. Every day I miss him. What I’d give to be able to hold him in my arms. I use walking and art as my way of minding me. When I’m out walking I have my chats with Edward. When I’m doing my art the washing machine of my mind slows down and I feel calmer and more able to deal with how life is on that day. My focus is on the piece that I’m working on and I try to create a piece that will be enjoyed by others. In a way I suppose I’m being mindfully creative. I started off giving my creations to Peadar and then breached out to giving them to friends and family. They would be thrilled to receive whatever it was I had been working on. They’d say ‘You should sell them’. Eventually I took the plunge and set up Precious Pebbles by Verna. I know it’s because of Edward that I have realised the true benefit of art. We now have a little girl Ellie and a little boy Tom, who both bring so much fun to our days. Now I make my creations during their nap time and at night when they’re in bed. The rest of the day is spent playing, singing and having fun. I still get great enjoyment and calmness from being creative. Seeing gratitude and delight in family and friends when I give them a gift I’ve made for them is a great added bonus. I hope through Precious Pebbles by Verna when people either purchase a gift for themselves or to pass onto someone else that they get a sense of enjoyment and love that’s been put into each piece. I have to say a massive thanks to everyone for all the good wishes for Peadar with his honey and a huge thanks to everyone who has bought his honey. It really means so much.

The power of supporting local is huge whether that‘s buying the local honey, locally made gifts, our framers markets and craft fairs. It means so much on so many levels.

I know for me and my little business I buy as much of my supplies in Wexford and if I can’t find it in Wexford I’ll d omy best to find it somewhere in Ireland and if only then I can’t find it will I go outsf Ireland and I’m thrilled to say that about 95% of my supplies come from within Ireland. This is something I an super proud of . .

We‘ve some super exciting news ….. there were some very proud moments in our home this week.

A few years back I signed Peadar up for a bee keeping course for his birthday and we’ve enjoyed lovely honey for breakfast every morning. I’m so thrilled to say that Peadar is now officially a honey producer.…

We are all so proud of him. Harristown Honey is now for sale …..
it’s not just us that get to enjoy it any more and it is 100% Wexford honey 🍯

Have you put a pebble in our Ireland of Love map yet?
All money raised from this precious map will be given to .s.fanclub , an amazing charity that is all about bringing joy to a child through sport that is battling cancer.

How the map works …..
Let me know what you would like written on a pebble, it can be a name, a date or a word, then let me know where in Ireland you would like it and send a donation via revolut or can send a link to donate with card.

when the pebble is in place I’ll send you a photo of it.
Also, when the map is finished it will be sold with all money going to Michael’s fan club. Along with the map will be a very special notebook that contains messages about the pebbles. If you’d like a message included in the notebook just let me know.

If you’d like to be part of this fundraiser just send me a message and if you’d like to see your pebble go into the map you’re more than welcome to call to the studio and I’ll place it when you’re here. It’s hard to explain but it’s very special seeing the pebble go in ❤️ (Always send a message beforehand just to make sure I’m around).

How cute are these? I hope you like them.

These are a smaller frame size than my usual (7” x 7”) and each one brings a lovely message.

Each of these pieces are €25 plus p&p if it’s needed.

These make a lovely gift for a friend, grandchild, to let someone know you’re thinking of me, for a birthday or whatever reason.

I was up in Wicklow today see in the folks and look what I saw in the paper.
A big thanks to Wicklow People for including it in the paper this week and a big thanks to all who have supported our fundraiser this year, and every year in memory of Edward, you are all super.

What a super day we had in Wicklow in June to raise some funds for our chosen charity Michael's Fan Club . A big thanks to my parents for hosting it and great to see so many pebbles added to our Ireland of love map. Thanks so much everyone for all the support in so many ways.

Grandparents George and Muriel Williams welcomed the community, and more, into their home, to raise money for children diagnosed with cancer in memory of their late grandson.

The event was inspired by their daughter Verna Goff, who started her small business Precious Pebbles by Verna after the death of her baby boy Edward in 2017.

The goal was to use creativity as a way of coping with grief. Over the years, that personal journey has grown into a sustainable business centred around creating meaningful art and gifts, while also giving back to the community.

Each year she chooses a charity to support in his memory.
