An open fire can be beautiful — but when much of the heat is disappearing up the chimney, it may not be doing your room justice.

For this Cork home, the old open fire was replaced with a Contura i1 wood-burning stove, creating a more efficient way to enjoy the warmth, glow and atmosphere of a real fire.

We finished with custom honed granite and a wood beam, bringing together natural materials that give the space a warm, timeless feel.

It’s a simple transformation, but one that makes a big difference to how the fire looks and works within the room.

A beautiful media wall starts with more than the cabinetry.

For this project, the homeowner wanted a dark green built-in with open shelving, drawers and a TV above the fire. We supplied the Luminosa 150 electric fire, while her kitchen company designed and built the bespoke cabinetry around it.

Choosing the fire first meant the cabinetry could be designed around the correct dimensions, proportions and installation requirements — helping everything feel like it belongs together rather than the fire being fitted into a space that was already decided.

It’s a good example of how different specialists can work together to create a finished result that feels effortless.
