Just finished this Scandinavian style pullover for hubby with Irish wool, some handspun. He's so happy with it he didn't take it off. The pattern is from Wilderness Knits and I previously made mine with dog paws on the yoke (of course). Took many hours but I'm thinking I'll make myself a cardi.

Processing my own fleeces is a labour of love. It takes time and energy, but is an important step in getting them into the correct condition for spinning and dyeing. I have been doing this myself at home for the past 11 years because there was no mill in Ireland washing, carding and spinning small quantities. But now there is! Katarina in County Galway opened Woolstore just a couple of years ago and can now wash and card a minimum of 5kgs. Believe me when I say I am taking my fleeces to her and she does a lovely job. Now Katarina wants to be a full service “mini mill” where the fibre can be spun also. But she needs spinning machinery, which is very pricey. That’s why I’m helping her to realize her dream by putting this link here where you can donate to the fund raising:

It's here!! A crowd funding campaign to raise funds for a mini wool mill in Ireland. Help us help the farmers, crafters, designers and makers who desperately need a local mill to process their sheep fleece. This is the story of how it is done and please go here to make a donation.
