Patches is a small home based business run in County Leitrim Ireland by myself... Vicky Crawford. I make unique handmade gifts for babies, children and big kids too!!! Patches Bears are all unique and feature a patch pocket for visits from the tooth fairy. They come in a variety of colours and sizes so don't be afraid to ask if you don't see the colour you want. I also make memory bear's from your

own special materials baby clothes, wedding dresses or a loved ones clothes. I also make beautiful strings of bunting which I put a name on these are great for special occasions.... christenings, birthdays, or simply to decorate a bedroom. My quilts are for babies and are custom made in any colour choice I put on a name and date of birth and use applique to make them really special. Like many others I'm a mother working from home and I pride myself on a professional service. I understand the need for quality when it comes to gifts for children and love to create unique gifts.

Our family lost a very special member a little over a week ago. Michael Budd.
He was a wonderful husband, father, brother in law and friend. He was also a master craftsman who wrought magic from iron and steel and inspired others with his passion for his craft.

I’m slowly coming back to work new as I understand how important and precious your memories are to you all. Please be patient with the slight extension in running times.

My name is Vicky Crawford and I am a memory bear maker, printmaker, musician, and illustrator living in Drumkeeran Co. Leitrim. I’m also a bit of a bird nerd… my exhibition is titled Songs of Hope and is inspired by the Dawn chorus. It opens on Friday 10th October at 7pm in Solas Gallery Ballinamore and runs for a month.

Birdsong is the natural soundtrack to our days and is proven to be hugely beneficial and soothing to our mental health. Birds only sing when there is no danger and we are encoded with this knowledge and can therefore relax when they sing. To hear a lone blackbird singing the last light in the sky away is utterly beautiful. But to hear the dawn chorus is pure magic, to learn the different voices is like stepping into another world. What a wonderful spectacle to call in the light each morning. Each bird with its own song now added together in a choral community of harmony.

Community is at the heart of my work I am a member of the Manorhamilton print group. Being part of a community of printers gives me an opportunity to learn from my peers, to be supported and also to give support to others. Community is very important to me but I believe that our community is not made up of only humans it includes the natural world. With my art I try to encourage people to get to know their natural neighbours. To slow down and notice the magic in our hedgerows and wild places and to learn the names of the wildlife that share our fields and gardens. To reconnect as our ancestors did to the land we inhabit and to be mindful that we only share it, we are custodians not keepers.
I hope as you look at the birds I’ve printed here you will see familiar faces they are all locals. Maybe even get to know their names, introduce yourself to them! I’ve used different printmaking techniques to create my birds from Lino to dry point etchings
I hope my art inspires you to think more closely about community and embrace your non human neighbours. It is easier to care for, support and protect them when they are your friends.

I invite you to greet the dawn as part of a chorus… with songs of hope!

As we finish out the last few days of the summer holidays I thought I’d share some baby bears! These beautiful little bears celebrate the special memories of childhood. Each one holds memories of quiet snuggles and all the magic that a new born brings.

For all my current and prospective customers I’m without power since early Saturday morning and have no WiFi or phone signal unless I go out in the car! So please expect delays in orders and responses to enquiries. Hopefully power will be restored soon and life will return to normal but thankfully we are safe, warm and no damage was done.

A very special Christmas to all my lovely followers and a big thank you to all the wonderful people who have trusted me to make their Christmas’s that little bit more memorable.
As we celebrate with family and friends it can be difficult with a chair empty at the table. It doesn’t matter how long that chair has been empty it can feel that little bit emptier at this time of year. But I think it’s good to take a little time amongst the festivities to sit with or indeed in that empty chair and feel the presence of your loved one. It is good to remember the happy moments and honour the sadness that love leaves. For one thing I know from making your memories there is so much love left behind ❤️❤️❤️
