Rare Example of an Irish well grained Rosewood Travelling Writing Slope of compact proportions, made in Dublin, Ireland by George Austin. Third quarter of the Nineteenth Century.

The entire outer main area with lavish Mother of Pearl, Amboyna and brass strung inlays, opening to reveal a wonderful fitted interior.

Condition: Superb condition, original good surface patination. Green leather has been professionally replaced and is tooled using 24ct. gold leaf, very well done. Lock is present and working, key is lacking, one rectangular interior flap is also lacking.

Ivorine label AUSTINS St ANDREWS STREET DUBLIN.
