Currently on a break in the Kerry woodlands.I can feel the ions. It’s therapy for the soul. I hope you are having a peaceful summer too. I will be back to answers mails and DMs in a week or so

This is your sign to take your dog to the beach. It’s the ultimate nervous system reset. I get that not everyone loves dogs and are wary. We all deserve peace. But on a wide open empty coastline it’s pure therapy!
Hoping Ireland will keep these spaces open for responsible owners and their pets for a long time to come!

Today’s was in a French brocante.
It was brought home and lightly refinished (by me) to bring out its original patina. It’s both beautiful and useful.

Made from wood, with brass handles, sliding tambour doors, and flexible shelves. It’s the kind of craftsmanship you don’t find often these days and the type that adds character and depth to your interior space. On the website now DM for more details

Wardrobe Mood-board Makeover:
I’m so happy with my Saturday DIY project, the wardrobe went from drab to fab in a few hours
There are still a couple of finishing touches to do: I need to put the handles back on, and I ran out of red vinyl for the side you can’t see. Those can wait for another day.
If you’re a beginner DIYer, and reasonably handy, you’ll probably find this project quite doable, although it is a bit fiddly in places!
What do you think? I’m really pleased with the result. Now I’m just curious to see how well it holds up over time.

Nothing good goes to waste around here.
The cheerful vintage red and cream stripe is what was left from the headboard cover, so I turned it into a double-sided scalloped valance with green ticking on the reverse. I enjoy repeating fabrics around a room. It gives a sense of cohesion, it’s playful without everything becoming too matching.
The green room is slowly coming together. Roman blind up next!

When renovation chaos is testing your patience, a small creative project can be the perfect dopamine boost. This headboard started as a vintage folding screen, and those bold red stripes were too good not to give a second life. Every room needs a little patternand a little personality.

From boring to beautiful!
A Sunday well spent transforming this plain lampshade into a romantic, vintage-inspired gathered cover using nothing more than leftover fabric and a few trimmings.
One of the reasons I love this style is that it’s so forgiving. The gathers soften everything, little mistakes disappear, and any imperfections simply become part of the charm. It’s the perfect beginner sewing project and a lovely way to give something old a completely new look.
I’m always looking for ways to create a beautiful home without spending a fortune, and projects like this are proof that a little fabric can go a long way.
Would you try a gathered lampshade cover, or do you prefer a more tailored look? Let me know below 🤍

Before and After, hall staircase reveal. What do you think? I’m live it! The stairs in this little period house have had a paint makeover. The old carpet was taken off and the wood was sanded to prepare for painting. The stairs are so sweet, handmade by a local craftsman in 1935, though they are quite steep! There are a few more stages for styling this hallway but for now a lick of dark green on the wood and a vintage print gallery wall will get it started. Eventually there will be a runner and next week a colour drench of “Sulking Room Pink” is going on the walls. I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments and if you would like to know what specific shade of dark green this is just ask!
