Julia Fraia - design de superfície

Julia Fraia - design de superfície Brazilian designer based in Dublin, Ireland. Since 2008 I’ve been drawing to create happy and colorful objects. Feel free to get in touch.

I’m in love with colors, traveling, in looking for real life patterns around the cities I visit and them translating them into my work. I have studied design (graphic, surface and also industrial design) in different schools, like, Belas Artes, FAAP, IED (Sao Paulo) and Central Saint Martins (London). I’ve had the honor to be part of the Brazilian Design Biennial and to be awarded at the Surface Design Fair of Santa Maria, Brazil. I hope you guys enjoy some of my work :)

I am available for free-lance work, private commissions and collaborative projects.

I wish it was that quick in real life 😅

From street to clay. Starting with observation, then drawing, developing tools, and finally bringing the idea into life.

If you know, you know!

The most fearless creature in Ireland:
the seagull… with your chips.

This ornament is a little tribute to that very real Dublin experience, funny, chaotic, and slightly traumatic.

Handmade, minimal, and with a touch of humour

Tag someone who’s lost their lunch to a seagull 👇

A proper Irish icon

This little pint is my playful ceramic version of something you’ll find on every corner here.

Minimal, handmade, and slightly nostalgic — just like the real thing (but it lasts forever 😄)

A fun gift, a travel memory, or just a nod to your favourite pub.

Would you hang this at home or gift it to someone? 👇

There’s something about Dublin doors…
Each one feels like a little personality on the street.

These pieces are my ceramic take on one of the city’s most iconic details — simplified, minimal, but still full of character.

Handmade in Dublin, inspired by Dublin 💚

Perfect as a small gift, a souvenir, or a little piece of the city for your home.

Which colour door would you pick? 👀

These vases are not for sale.
They were experiments.

Ceramics keeps reminding me that everything is possible.
Jewellery, ornaments, vessels, objects that don’t even have a name yet.
My anxiety pushes me to want to do everything, all at once, all the time.

But building a sustainable business asks for something else:
focus, repetition, patience.
Lately, I’ve been learning to sit with my ideas instead of chasing all of them.
To let some stay playful,
and others slowly become a path.

I’m deeply grateful for this market season, the conversations, for people who came back to say a piece they bought last year is still their favourite.
That earrings didn’t cause allergies.
That a gifted necklace was worn all year long.
Those moments quietly tell me: you’re in the right place.

So while I feel more grounded than ever,
I’m also incredibly excited for what’s coming next.
Growth doesn’t mean shrinking your creativity,
sometimes it means learning how to hold it with care.

May this creative energy find space in your life too.
In whatever shape, rhythm, or scale it needs to exist ✨
