Sometimes a paired back approach to the front facade is the answer. When we renovate, we always take a sympathetic approach to the front and retain the original character as much as possible. We removed all of the lovely terracotta roof tiles, cleaned them up (tedious time consuming task by and team) We designed a beautiful bespoke entrance door and matching garage doors that were made by
We also retained the pretty pink terrazzo front step, that seems to have been the done thing with houses of this era. The constant revolution of trends eh?

After a lengthy pre-planning process, we are delighted to receive planning permission for a new extension to a Protected Gate Lodge structure in Dublin
•
The design involves a glazed entrance link connection to the original dwelling & new living & sleeping blocks both contained under a new metal roof with a modern asymmetrical hip, a nod to the traditional hip of the original gate lodge. The external cladding is charred timber. We are getting this project ready to take to site in the summer!

Introducing our newest team member Julie!
•
Julie joined the team last Spring after spending 8 years in New York, working in Manhattan and Brooklyn on mixed-use, commercial interiors, and ground-up construction.

Julie is originally from Dublin and earned her B.Arch in Architecture from DIT, and is now a part-time Assistant Lecturer in TU Dublin for 4th Year Architecture Studio.

Julie has a keen interest in art, design, and photography, and enjoys creating illustrations in her spare time. She has more recently participated in pop-up art shows in the surrounding area.

We are delighted to have her join Team CMcD as Project Architect leading some exciting residential renovation & new build design projects due to get on site in 2024.

A sense of calm in every corner of our recently completed Mount Merrion project. A palette of pale oak with satin brass rounded hardware runs throughout all the joinery within the open plan space.

It’s been an exciting year for Team CMCD with a lovely new Studio space to create, collaborate and welcome our clients, a wonderful new team member , some great awards recognition, and a number of residential and commercial projects successfully completed.

Here’s to a great 2024 with some exciting designs in the pipeline! Featured is our recently completed Mount Merrion project. Designed for our wonderful clients who spent 10 years in Australia and wanted to bring that laidback design aesthetic to their new home in Dublin!
