This October, I’ll be teaching an intimate week-long art retreat at the extraordinary Coopershill House in County Sligo alongside writer Marian Garvey

“The Trace of Things” is a space for artists, makers, writers and creative thinkers to step away from everyday noise and spend time immersed in landscape, process, experimentation and reflection.

Over the course of the week we’ll explore painting, mixed media, observation, field research, reflective writing and creative conversation — responding to the atmosphere, history and landscape of Sligo and its surroundings.

There will be studio sessions, shared meals, mentoring, field visits, discussion, and quiet space to develop your own work at your own pace.

A week of making, thinking, walking, looking and reconnecting with creative practice in one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland.

24–31 October 2026
Coopershill House, County Sligo
Full board accommodation included
Limited to 8 participants

If this speaks to you, start thinking about it now. Details and booking page coming soon — feel free to message me/DM in the meantime.

A throwback to a piece from 2010... pulling old stickers of walls in Stockholm and visiting Paris and most specifically Père-Lachaise, and falling in love with all the rusted mouldings on every grave..and coming back to Stockholm to make a painting that summed it all up.... actually it became a whole collection, titled "Quick! Cops", a sold out exhibition, that was opened by the Irish Ambassador in Stockholm that year...what a time to be alive....!
Here trying to consider themes for future exhibitions... problem is my brain tells me "I could do a show about ANYTHING"!!! Ideas for themes on a postcard please!!!!!!

Years before GDPR existed (say approx 2003) I did a series of photos, where every Sunday working in the family agri supplies shop, I photographed the customers who came in. Film camera - old skool. Found the book of shots recently. Here is pride of place, anyone from the Castlebar environs will remember this man, Harry Faul. He would come in telling us of the coal mines he worked in in England, the magnets he put in his shoes to prevent arthritis, and the ghosts he had met on the road, walking to his house. He was one of the legends of Castlebar, had a story for everyone....we stored his stories like jewels...what a man....
