So sad to hear of the death of the great journalist and environment campaigner, Frank McDonald. Among many notable things, he campaigned against the onslaught of Airbnbs in Temple Bar. Originally calling itself the 'Cultural Quarter', Temple Bar promised to be a wonderful place to live. But the area became overrun with transient, short-term visitors and revellers and provided no homes for people looking to live in the city centre. Worn down by the sheer traffic and noise of Airbnb-ers, Frank and his husband moved out of Temple Bar a few years ago, hoping for peace in the suburbs. May you rest easy now, Frank.
