Castle Flowers Moate

A hidden gem in the heart of Moate, Castle Flowers is a family run business established by Ethel Mitchell in 2007. The flower shop itself is a converted stable on the grounds of Moate Castle, which is over 500 years old. The last remaining house of seven built at the time, it is the homeplace of Ethel, her brother Reggie and their two dogs Dougie and Millie. Having trained with the renowned floral

artist Richard Haslam, she went on to run her own flower shop in Carrick-on-Shannon before returning to her home town of Moate in 2006. Reggie’s area of expertise is the garden and looking after things behind the scenes. Specialising in summer bedding plants, house plants, hanging baskets, window boxes and containers grown and nurtured in our tunnel and garden. Ethel hosted the very successful Big Flower Festival, Moate 2010 and is coordinating the prestigious flower festival in Mullingar on the 21-23 November 2014, ‘Christmas Carols portrayed in 5000 Flowers’.
