Neutral at the window, colour in the room.

Blathnàid kept her roman blinds simple: a linen look fabric with our Milano greige braid down each side. It lets the blue sofas, patterned cushions and fireplace take centre stage, and means she can change her accessories without changing her blinds.

From entering her measurements online to choosing her fabric in our Naas showroom, Blathnàid found the whole process went like clockwork. Her husband fitted the roman blinds himself in about 15 minutes.

Her advice for dressing windows? Don't go too bold. Keep to a neutral tone with a hint of colour, so the blinds work with your couch and cushions as the room changes over time.

She would recommend Material World to anyone doing up or revamping a room, for the quality of the fabric, the make and the mechanisms. She's already thinking about which room to do next.

Blathnàid's den, finished with made-to-measure roman blinds from Material World.

She chose a natural linen with a blue chain braid running down each side. Neutral enough to change the cushions or couch over time, with a trim that picks up the blues already in the room.

Part 2 of 3 with Blathnàid from .

What started as the kids' den has grown into a cosy room the whole family uses, especially in winter when the fire is lit. Blathnàid wanted neutral colours that would sit with the shelving and cushions, and give her the freedom to change things over time.

On our team's advice, she chose made-to-measure roman blinds in a linen fabric, finished with a trim down each side. The texture brings a subtle country feel, and the flecks of colour in the linen pick up the couch and cushions around it. Luxurious, but still understated.

"The minute I put it up, I was over the moon."

Blathnàid shares her home with her husband and four children. A health and safety manager by day, she spends her evenings and weekends on interiors.

Her style is classic with a minimalist touch, blending cosy cottage with Victorian and Georgian influences for a mix of old and new. A love of old houses from an early age meant Georgian style windows and old arches were always part of the plan when they built their home.

This little nursery came together around one detail: the curtains.

We made these in our Linen Look fabric in white, finished with a Limoges Pink braid down the leading edge. The braid picks up the soft pink on the walls and pulls the room together without shouting about it. Triple pinch pleat heading, floor length, made to measure for the window.
