‘Tiny Mutiny’ 2024/2025, commissioned by Galway County Council Arts Office in partnership with Sparkcatchers! with support from Galway County Council and the Arts Council. ‘First Sparks’ funded by Creative Ireland Galway County Programme.
Tiny Mutiny - ‘Project Awards’ & ‘First Sparks’ are trailblazing initiatives which offer creative teenagers from across the county the opportunity to realise their artistic proposals with support from professional mentors.
Due to an exceptional quality of applications, ‘First Sparks’ a series of masterclasses funded by Creative Ireland Galway County were also awarded to the following young artists:
- Alannah Canavan, Clifden
- Alexandria Wilson, Abbeyknockmoy
- Niamh Ní Dhonacha Inis Oírr
- Lev Rulerskyi & Afina Ostapenko, Oranmore
- Breandán Ó Donnacha Inis Oírr
They will each receive an arts masterclasse from professionals in their chosen areas of manga, illustration, graffiti, music and songwriting.
Another 9 young Artists were successful in their applications for the ‘Tiny Mutiny Project Awards’ and are embarking on a journey with their mentors working towards a public showcase of new work from across the arts in Feb 2025. The young artists and mentors are being guided throughout the project by Tuam based Sparkcatchers! Jojo Hynes & Midie Corcoran.
This project is a follow up to Tiny Mutiny produced for Baboro International Arts Festival for Children in 2022 and inspired by ground breaking Broei .be in the Netherlands. Over the next few months we will be sharing how all the young artists are progressing with their mentors and projects.
