Cheers to Peter 🥂

What a fantastic evening we had celebrating the retirement of our dear friend Peter Cleary

The event was hosted by the Sanderson group, with careful attention to detail.

Huge thank you to Lisa, Mauricio and Marion for the wonderful hospitality 🤍

It was a joy to catch up with friends in the trade (Claire and Anne , Sarah ) and to honour Peter who I’ve known for 30 years!

We wish him well for the next chapter, plenty of golf no doubt and lots more laughs along the way 🥰

The only part of Irish weather we don’t talk about enough...

One of the most common things I see with client new builds is that they don’t believe the Irish sun will be “that much of a problem”

But when you’re building a home with large expanses of glass, open-plan living areas and south or west-facing windows, you soon realise that sun glare in your kitchen or living room will be an issue.

And that low-lying winter sun?
It’s actually worse than summer sun; it sits at an angle that cuts straight across a room, right into your eyes, right onto your TV screens during math day, right across your kitchen worktop.

And while we love natural light, and don’t want to block it entirely, we must control and filter it with the appropriate window dressings.

The right dressings filter glare without losing natural light, manage heat gain in summer, and keep a room feeling bright and comfortable year round.

Motorised blinds, solar blinds, sheer voiles, layered treatments, there are beautiful solutions for every space. But they need to be planned at early stages, not an afterthought.

If you’re building or renovating right now, this is the conversation to have early with your designer 🤍

And if you need expert support, we’d love to hear from you.

Blue is having a moment this year in interiors.

A truly calm and balanced colour and we love to use a variety of shades to add depth to a space.

Here’s what makes this window dressing work:

The deep cobalt blue velvet armchair grounds the softness of the curtains.
The blue in the fabric picks up the chair perfectly and we carried it through with a matching cushion so the whole scheme feels considered and cohesive.

The curtain pole is mounted close to the ceiling, not the window frame.
This draws the eye upward, makes the ceiling feel higher, and ensures the curtains drape perfectly.

The triple pinch pleat is a classic and elegant heading style.
It creates that full, structured gather at the top and allows the curtain to fall in those beautiful, consistent folds all the way to the floor.

Finally the rope and tassel tieback really is the jewel that ties it all together and adds that soft touch of luxury.

Overall this is timeless design in a contemporary home.

Fabric is Magnolia & Pomegranate in Grey/Blue.
A design that’s quietly iconic.

Oversized blooms, trailing pomegranate and magnolia in the softest dusky blue and warm cream.
It’s botanical, timeless and utterly beautiful in person.

Better than any mood board ✨

Some of my favourite creative fuel is getting lost in a city that was built beautifully on purpose.

I spent last weekend in Bath and oh my goodness is it a stunning place 🥰 (helped by the spring sunshine)

I was consumed by Georgian terraces that stop you in your stride, art galleries, independent shop fronts, flower filled streets and pubs that were just full of so much warmth.

As a designer who works with Irish heritage buildings, character homes and spaces that also carry great history and stories, walking through streets like these remind me exactly why my work matters.

Timeless design is not a trend, it’s a conversation continued between that space and the people who live there.

I’ve come back home feeling restored, energised and inspired with a head full of ideas.
And that’s the whole point ✨
