Steinway & sons House
Conseptual drawing

A big black grand piano was my inspiration for designing this house. I planned it for a single person who is not interested in any company or to be exposed to the public. He only wants to watch. Through identifying the 'language' of the piano – a large blocked piece of furniture, while inside it there is a stormy system of strings, I created a language for designing the house. The language is about closed versus open, shut versus curious and a calm soul versus a tremulous one.

Between the streams and orchards of HaGoshrim, the house was positioned in response to the topography, light, and landscape.

בין הנחלים והמטעים של הגושרים, הבית הוצב מתוך הקשבה לטופוגרפיה, לאור ולנוף.

Rift House
HaGoshrim, Upper Galilee

בית השבר ממוקם בגליל העליון, לאורך ציר נדידת הציפורים של עמק החולה.
האוריינטציה והארגון המרחבי של הבית נובעים מתנועת הנדידה החוצה את נוף העמק.

הפרויקט מורכב מחמש מאסות נפרדות, המפורקות באמצעות חצרות צרות ובקעים טקטוניים בהשראת השבר הסורי אפריקאי.
החללים שבין המאסות מפרשים מחדש את תנועת הלוחות הטקטוניים ואת התרוממות רכסי ההרים שמסביב, ומתרגמים את היווצרות הנוף לשפה אדריכלית.

האדריכלות מינימליסטית ושקטה, עם טיח לבן שבור, קווים גאומטריים חדים, מרזבים נסתרים וגגות אבץ בפרשנות מודרנית של שני שיפועים אסימטריים.
הבקעים בין המבנים מייצרים אור, אוויר, מבטים וחיבור מתמשך בין הבית לבין הנוף הפתוח של העמק.

חצר המדורה השקועה מהווה את לב הפרויקט חלל חוץ מוגן ואינטימי, השקוע בתוך השברים הטקטוניים של האדריכלות.
