Do you know what an Interior Designer REALLY does for their clients?

Yes we plan out the space to suit your needs, we help you source materials and furniture and bring harmony to the space.

But here is what you may not realize.

Your designer has your back at all times.

They will randomly show up at your project and keep an eye on the progress and the details. And now and again that will prove to be invaluable.

Today I dropped in on a kablan apartment I am working on in Ra'anana as I was in the area. The builders had finished laying the flooring, and had put tile "panelim" or baseboards around the apartment as is customary.

But there was an niche in the kitchen where I know the fridge is supposed to go, and this opening according to my plans should be around 85cm to allow comfortably for an 80cm fridge and the necessary clearance around it.

However they had laid the panellim into this recess, measuring the space from higher up, meaning that the actually width at floor level was at best 82cm.

The panelim had stolen 2cm of this precious space. It's only 2cm the kablan said, but I knew the it is likely that the fridge would therefore not fit in, and the client would have had to downgrade to a 60cm wide fridge.

Fortunately I caught this mistake in time, called for the site foreman, and have arranged to have them removed asap.

My client doesn't even know that I was there.

Have you bought a home in a new build project or a Tama38?

Do you want your home to be just right for your needs?

It is imperative that you PLAN PLAN PLAN!

HERE ARE A FEW TIPS TO HELP YOU ALONG THE WAY!

👉In the early stages of the project changes are far less costly than once the building is in the later stages.
👉Here are a few things that you need to think about and speak to the Kablan's architect about...

💡Is there a fee for moving walls?
💡What is included in the kitchen they are giving, and does it suit your requirements
💡where are you placing your furniture, what are you buying new and what are you bringing with you?
💡Does the lighting and electric plan that the kablan has provided fit the layout of the apartment that you had in mind?
💡are the bathroom fittings up to the standard that you're used to?
💡what kind of air-conditioning is included and what is the cost if you want to upgrade?
💡what will you be able to install before getting the keys and what has to wait until after?
💡what is your budget? and how much money will you need to add for extras?

These are really just a few of the things that you must think about as early as possible in the process.
I tell my clients that the planning is the key to a smooth and stress free process. 😁

Running a business is such a blessing. It has been called the American dream.
It is also NOT EASY.
What they don’t tell you is that it can cause loads of stress, severe anxiety, and can drain you mentally to the point of depression - even in the most laid back people.

People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.

Friends will expect discounts on everything and value you and your hard work less than a big chain store.

You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.

Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work life balance. You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner..... All whilst being a parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend...

There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5-10 years. It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially this past year.

Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives. Be kind, be patient….. and hopefully more of us will stick around! Shout out to all those still showing up.

Elegant and functional bathroom in a tama38 project that we designed as a children’s bathroom for a growing young family. We upgraded the tiles and vanity a little and worked within the client’s tight budget to create a fun functional space for the family.
