House of curves:
Nestled in a serene and peaceful neighbourhood of Ahmedabad, the House of Curves stands as an architectural marvel, distinguished by the unique challenge it presented. The defining feature of this project was the graceful curvature of its peripheral walls, a characteristic that not only shaped its architecture but also began to define the placement and flow of furniture within. The design mandate was clear: employ a palette of neutral colours, opt for high-quality, natural materials, and create an ambiance that exuded timelessness.
Further interventions explored the untapped potential of the architectural curves. A dramatic pooja space was crafted around an existing column, adorned with stone strip panelling and brass inlays, enhancing the organic nature of the house's curved corners. Positioned centrally, it became a solid chunk of stone that gracefully engaged the surrounding space.
The basement was reimagined as a home theatre, a departure from its previous life as a storage space. To address the low ceiling, a clever design was employed, concealing the beams through beam bottom ceiling while creating punctures for indirect lighting. The black acoustic ceiling was adorned with hundreds of optic lights, casting a starry night effect that enveloped the space. Given the curvature of most of the walls, acoustic cloth panelling was meticulously executed with small patterned green cloth panels fitting seamlessly into the overall pattern.
