When we started working on a light inspired by indigo, we became very intrigued by the image of a guchcha of threads getting dyed in indigo.
Each thread absorbed the dye differently, creating subtle variations in tonality. We wanted to translate this inspiration into wood.
The design emerged as a cluster, ‘a Guchha’ of wooden elements bent and gathered together around a central brass piece. Each wooden strand was dyed with indigo, allowing the natural variations of the dye to appear across the surface.
The entire geometry of the piece is an attempt to emulate the way a bunch of indigo dyed threads come together in a Guchha.
