Less. Refined. Intentional.

True minimalism is not about having less—it’s about having exactly what matters.

Colour can change the way a space feels, functions, and stays with you.
At Shilp Serenity, a palette of turquoise, warm wood, and soft neutrals brings together energy and calm, creating interiors that feel contemporary without losing their warmth. The colours work alongside the existing materials and details, giving the spaces a fresh character while keeping the overall design cohesive.

Sometimes, all a space needs is the right colour story.

"What style do you like?" is useful—but it is not the first question that should define a project.

A meaningful brief uncovers how a space must function, who it must serve, what it needs to communicate and which constraints must be respected. It also looks beyond opening day: how will this home, workplace or commercial environment adapt as needs change?

When the brief is clear, design choices stop being isolated preferences and begin working toward one shared outcome.

Small spaces do not need fewer ideas. They need more precise ones.

Colour can add depth when it is used with intention. Storage can increase openness when it is integrated into architecture rather than added as an afterthought. And separate functions do not always need solid walls—furniture, lighting, transparent partitions and material changes can create effective zones.

The goal is not to follow a universal small-space formula. It is to understand which decisions support the people, activities and constraints of that particular space.

Which “rule” would you break first—white walls, hidden storage or solid partitions?

A successful project needs more than individually beautiful parts. Architecture, interiors and landscape must work as one connected experience.

EVK Architects provides integrated architecture, interior and landscape design for homes, workplaces, hospitality spaces, commercial environments and institutions. From early planning and spatial strategy to materials and ex*****on coordination, we shape each layer around the project’s context and the people who will use it.

Before guests read the menu, they read the room.

At Yanki Sizzlerr, the material palette helps a large restaurant feel warm, layered and approachable. Earth-toned terrazzo provides a grounded base. Cane and bamboo introduce natural texture and rhythm. Leather adds durability and depth, while burnt-orange seating brings energy to the centre of the dining floor.

Material selection in hospitality design is not decoration alone—it influences mood, movement, comfort and memory.

Choose your favourite in the comments: **terrazzo, cane, bamboo or leather?**

The most expensive finish cannot correct a poorly planned space.

Before discussing colours, furniture or surface materials, a strong design process studies daylight, movement, privacy, existing assets and future needs. These decisions influence how comfortable, efficient and adaptable the finished space will be.

If you are planning a home, office or commercial project, save these five questions and bring them to your first design conversation.

Which decision feels hardest right now: layout, lighting, materials or budget?

How do you fit an ambitious office programme into 2,000 sq. ft. without making the workplace feel dense?

At Sakar 9 – Office II, the space needed to accommodate 20 employees, two MD cabins, a conference room and substantial storage. The central area was used for open workstations, removing the need for space-consuming internal passages. Transparent partitions help natural light travel from the existing windows to the deeper parts of the office.

Suspended overhead cabinets turn storage into a design feature, while peach-toned fluting, cane, wood and curved forms keep the workplace vibrant and welcoming.

Which compact-office challenge should we decode next—storage, daylight or circulation?

A beautiful space may earn attention. A space that understands people earns a place in their lives.

Before materials, colours and finishes, there are questions: Who will use this space? How will they move through it? Where will they pause, gather, work or retreat? What needs to feel open—and what needs privacy?

At EVK Architects, we believe design becomes meaningful when it responds to real behaviour, everyday routines and the character of the people it serves.

What if the most important part of an office was already growing on site?

For Amita Vadhar's eco-friendly office in Bengaluru, the brief called for a formal workspace within a garden, while retaining an old tree growing through the existing plinth. Instead of treating it as an obstruction, we made it part of the architecture.

The office was built around the tree. A split Mangalore-tile roof brings in daylight and helps warm air escape, while louvred windows encourage natural ventilation. Locally sourced stone and a sequence of decks create a gradual transition from the factory environment to a calm, green workspace.

Good sustainable design does not always begin by adding new technology. Sometimes, it begins by respecting what is already there.

Would you have kept the tree? Tell us why in the comments.
