Corals – Kids Play Area

Corals is a thoughtfully designed kids’ play space created within an open shell with a soaring ceiling, intentionally left exposed to enhance volume and openness. The design balances structure and fluidity, dividing the space into distinct zones—pretend play, build and construct, art and craft, sensory exploration, and an active play zone—while maintaining visual connectivity.

Inspired by a Wes Anderson–influenced coral palette, the space uses playful yet cohesive colours to evoke warmth, imagination, and curiosity. Arched thresholds define the entry to each zone, adding a sense of identity and whimsy, while low subtly separate functions without obstructing sightlines. This ensures easy supervision and allows the space to feel expansive, light, and engaging.

The result is a vibrant, intuitive environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and free movement, while thoughtfully addressing safety and spatial clarity.
