Even before 2500 BC, beyond the era of Indus Valley Civilisation, some of these magnificent art forms are being performed by using the same pre-historic methods to express the aesthetics. The modern era of macro culture is posing serious risk for such heterogeneous, independent brilliant cultural forms. Due to lack of promotion, audience and market those distinct artist communities are unable to even earn their bread and butter from these ‘dying’ occupation, instead, moving away to big cities as migrant labours or adopting other ‘less-glorious’ occupations. Moreover, the devastating impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic has worsen their situation. The aim of ‘FROM CRAFTSPEOPLE’ is to promote these indigenous art forms by informing people, developing an audience and building a bridge between these extraordinarily skilled artists & rest of the world. We hope after being informed, people will try to opt these art forms as alternative to the synthetic, homogeneous artefacts – a small step towards sustainable Indian art and cultural heritage.
