Alert : Long post ahead and its not about the book
Request: To my fellow crocheters to read it
A while ago I started to experience this small pain near my upper arm. It was shallow and I ignored it thinking If I mention it ,will definitely get told of for crocheting such long hours from my in laws and hubby..then thought if I take one or two days break from crocheting my hands will be rested enough and I can continue my work like normal.
Wish it was that simple. I kept on working on my crochet projects while the pain got worse and worse it spread towards my shoulder, neck and back too which made it impossible not just to crochet but also to do my household chores and even to simply hug my kid!! So finally somewhat unwillingly I went to see an orthopedic who examined me and suggested physiotherapy for the sprain along with other medications.
It was my physiotherapist who explained everything completely and told the root cause of my pain is not crocheting but the posture I'm keeping myself in while crocheting.. My doctor kept asking me if I had any previous episodes of injury which I had non.. He was very amazed that I caused myself this much damage simply by sitting in wrong postures for hours and crocheting.
We often bent our neck down to check our mobiles, do our day to day work which will eventually end up causing damage to our cervical spin. And it might cause long lasting damages if ignored. I know we all know this info but we never bother to care about it till it affects us. So As I'm recovering, I thought if I share my experience, some of you might get benefit of it.. The thing is to practice right posture, get proper rest and get proper treatment and strengthening our body with right food and exercises .. Pls pls pls don't repeat the mistakes I did and take care of yourselves.
And my sweet ladies, Thank you for tagging me for crochet giveaways and to games...Sorry, I couldn't be a part of it this time but gald you thought of me 🤗 missing crochet more and more each day but promised myself not to hold the hook till I'm fully cured and rested. So till then I can enjoy crochet posts of you lads and indulge myself with my other love- reading
