The .steel additive manufacturing facility was envisioned as a future ready industrial workspace that brings together advanced technology, climate responsiveness and long term adaptability. Located within Bengaluru Airport City, the project supports cutting edge manufacturing while maintaining a strong connection to human scale and experience.
Designed to accommodate one of the world’s most advanced 3D printing systems, the building balances innovation with continuity, drawing from the familiarity of industrial shed typologies while introducing a contemporary architectural language.
Climate responsive strategies shaped the form and façade through passive shading, controlled daylight and reduced heat gain, enabling comfortable interior environments and improved energy efficiency.
Over time, the architecture has evolved naturally. The growth of greenery and creepers across the façade reflects the project’s adaptive design intent, where built form responds to its environment and becomes living architecture in action. This evolution strengthens the sustainability principles embedded in the design and reinforces its relevance beyond completion.
The project stands today as a reminder that architecture can grow with time, supporting both performance and purpose.
