The “Majesty of Plumage,” is a reclaimed wood sculpture that captures the essence of the peacock’s splendour. Crafted with care, this My Lily Pond creation embodies the bird’s regal bearing and iridescent tail in a form that celebrates both nature and art. Meet the artists of Beautiful Black and White Art Exhibition in Bengaluru at curated by
Shanker Sundaram’s works on paper, specifically with pen and ink, indicate a journey within. Initially a realistic portrait artist, his approach to capturing portraits evolved to include landscapes, helping him realize his true artistic persona. As a mentor, Ive observed his transition to creating textured surfaces with standardized scribbles.
While not pointillistic, his renderings show biomorphic space division and flat surfaces. His use of complementary colours brings visual energy and movement. Shanker’s concept focuses on the concentration of energy, depicted as strings in the universe. This led him to create small, string-like scribbles in various vibrant colours. The solid forms in his work, often in colour and black, strive for visual balance. Despite starting late, Shanker’s journey has propelled him towards abstraction at a faster pace, reflecting his maturity. His artistic evolution highlights his path as an abstract expressionist in his visual endeavours.
