KaleNele

KaleNele KaleNele’s mission is to revive dwindling traditional art & craft forms, thereby creating sustainable employment for weavers and artisans alike.

We offer exquisitely handcrafted clothing, apparel and home furnishings to appeal to the modern connoisseur. "Kale", in Kannada, translates to art, and "Nele" to shelter and that is what we espouse to be, a shelter for art to nurture craft and kaarigar. KaleNele’s mission is to revive dwindling traditional art and craft forms, thereby creating sustainable employment for weavers and artisans alike.

KaleNele products come in regal colours, are unique and magnificently crafted by the deft hands of our kaarigars. We combine the exceptional art forms of multiple clusters of Karnataka to create a thing of beauty that adds vibrance to one’s day-to-day life. KaleNele aspires to grow to adopt other forms of crafts from India and bring them to you in unique interpretations and contemporary designs for you to adorn and to furnish your homes. It is our collective commitment to sustain these crafts and livelihoods that makes all the difference. Your support goes a long way in protecting age-old traditional art forms and helps sustain the livelihoods of several craftspeople and their future generations. We shall continue to revive, reinterpret, transform and make accessible these art forms. Each product has been created by hand, with love. Contact us at:

•| Vaibhava Nisarga |• A patched piece of art, is an exciting amalgamation of multiple weaves in handwoven pure mulberry silk - of the Chaduranga Chikki, the pinnacle of Ilkal weaving, of Ilkal weaves, of khunn weaves, brought together in the most aesthetic manner in tones of Giri Kumkum, pink and purple.

•| Varnaah |• The “Varnaah” Collection - Our colour block 16x16 cushion covers are crafted using two different weaves of Khunn fabric in the same colour family, bordered elegantly in matching tones. Designed to blend seamlessly across collections, these pieces come together in vibrant colour stacks — topstitched to perfection. Each cushion features delicate gubbis (meaning sparrows in the language Kannada), made by a group of women artisans from Honavar, bringing both beauty and livelihood into every piece. These gubbis are then handstitched by our extremely skilled kaarigars to dangle beautifully from the edge of the cushion cover.
